'Melo never told the Nuggets to try to trade him. All he has done so far is not sign a contract extension. Denver took it upon themselves to try to trade him so that they wouldn't lose him for nothing.
Um, the Nuggets are not loaded. Definitely not loaded enough to do any damage in the West. They missed their chance a couple years ago when they made a surprise run. They are not an elite team. OKC and Memphis have better young cores than Denver and they are more likely to make a Finals run in the next 3 years than Denver.
I'm pretty sure Melo has told them he wants to be traded. He hasn't said it publicly because he's simply trying to save face with the fans and has let it be known that he saw what LeBron did and doesn't want to do the same. There's been multiple reports on multiple stations since this began that he's worked with Ujiri and Kroenke.
And the Nuggets provide him the best chance to win. The east are top heavy, and he's not going to break into that unless he has Chris Paul and Amare in his pocket. I doubt he does considering Amare sounds like he could care less about Carmelo. LA is going to be fading as you can see. Utah doesn't have their great coach anymore and Deron is probably going to be leaving. Denver, despite having an older Chauncey would finally have capspace.
To Melo, or should I say Lala, it's all about being in a bigass city where she could advance her career and money. Winning comes last.
