Taking Days Off - Push Ups?
 

 
I haven't done pushups in a long time but i wanna start again and i've been hearing people say that you should take a day off in between and 2 days off on the weekend and others say - that u should do much as u wanna do without days off...

suggestions?

it recommends that you rest a day in between and take a weekend off

do 25- 40 push ups everyday when u wake up n before u go to bed even on days u lift. It'll slowly get ur s**t tight and hard as fuk

sit ups too dont do em to get sore, just to start ur day off n s**t

each person is different, and depends on how active you are/how much you generally lift, and how your body responds

listen to your body, if something doesn't feel right, don't do it..if you're sore, don't do it..you'll be able to tell when something doesn't feel right

I'm not sure why u would need to take a day off with such a low resistance exercise.


A bit of doms isn't going to hinder whatever ur trying to achieve by doing push ups.

Yeah.
If your doing push-ups you don't need to take any days off. Unless your doing Herschel Walker numbers, or using increased resistance and other variations.

40 push-ups is pretty low, unless your just starting out. You should also elevate ur push-ups to hit ur upper chest.

And what would 100 or 200 or 300 push ups do? elevating ur push ups isn't going to do s**t for the so-called "upper chest." It'll just involve ur anterior delts a bit more but ur not going to get much muscle development or strength from doing push ups.

With that said, if a progression in strength or hypertrophy is what you're looking for then added resistance is a must.

Build muscle endurance. its good to hit 100-200 push-ups as a warm-up. No one said its a good exercise to put on mass. & Elevated push-ups increase the resistance and hit your upper pecs more then a standard military press. So it's worth doing, if you are going to be doing push-ups.

Yeah if u split the push-ups through out the day though, their pretty easy though. I'd like to see how many Herschel could do in 1 set.
