See what happens when white people just bail out in the mid 1900's?

A whole city collapses.

Don't blame that on the auto industry, racism is where the eventual collapse of Detroit began.

Damn Detroit is in rough shape right now, they're not the only ones either. Those pictures look like something from after a nuke hit or some s**t. On the original site they have text that tells you what everything is.

i love my city but its the gutter the only thing tht looks good in the city are the casinos and the new stadiums this is the city with the most random acts of violence if u can live in the d u can live anywhere the whole city is the ghetto not just a little part like in other states where just a 2 or 3 mile radius is considered the "hood"
right and EVERY public high school in the city is f**kin nuts, me and my boy were thinkin about that today.

1st.. f**k that article... its just another part of the media's campaign to paint Detroit in a negative light.. been happening for a while now but as of late its more apparent especially after the auto bailouts

how you gon show pictures of buildings and places that haven't been used in a long a.ss time to represent a whole city?

yes its a lot of bad here.. abandon buildings.. run down neighborhoods.. of late bad schooling and government...

but what you miss is what makes Detroit such a good place.. and thats the drive to be and do better.. in my 27 years living here.. ive seen the city go down to the depths of :wtf: to now a city on the come up...

we got to reinvent ourselves after the collapse of the auto industry and job outsourcing to foreign countries.. we gotta heal our public image after all the media scandal of a few selected fools we had in power, and the years of despairs when we were the murder capital..

its not as bad as it sounds anymore... but the media don't see that so f**k them and anyone who thinks as they do... period.. and another f**k you to those from here .. s**ttin on the city.. just because you couldn't make it here, doesn't give you the right to rag on us..

you ain't built right for this city.. this city is for the committed, the forward thinkers and people with their minds on forward progression

if you here struggling.. thats your fault.. don't blame the city .. it plenty of people out here gettin money and doing it the legal way at that

I'm about to close the deal on real-estate downtown and hope that eventually I can move back in a few years. Detroit will forever be my home and favorite city, I've lived in some of the biggest cities in America and none have residents who actually made something of themselves being born and raised in Detroit.

Pittsburgh had its trouble when the steel industry shutdown, Detroit is in transition from relying on the auto-industry and an inept government who used race for financial gain for 40-50 years. Well, those people are starting to be weeded out, businesses are coming back and eventually, Detroit will be back to where it was. People who actually care about the city have had enough of this bulls**t and are finally starting to do something about it.

And if you don't think so, then don't cross that state line, plain and simple. Detroit needs to restructure and rebuild, it will be back whether America wants it to be or not.

The worst part about Detroit is that the people from there that could make a difference leave. The city needs money but it also needs people to help with the upkeep. People own building and homes but becuase they are paid off and could care less about the city taxes, the city could knock the buildings down but that costs money as well and they cant even find some of the owners to even bill them. They need to start taking the land back and offer insentives to business and create green space in the downtown area. It was crazy to visit the african american history muesum because the building is awsome but nothing else was around.

Man all they did was show some old a.ss building. I've been born and raised in Detroit westside all day. I honesty hate what Detroit has become. Kids ain't learnin s**t n*ggas still getting k!lled over a pair of glasses that might of been some knock offs etc pretty much now nobody wanna see another n*gga make.it in the d it's been so many rappers that was about to get known but then out of the blue they get k!lled over some bulls**t.

I used to stay in "brightmo" on Westbrook and. Fenkell..only thing to do in the hood was just hoop or stay yo a.ss in the house and play videogames. The day me and my family moved off out the hood some n*gga got shot in the head right on front of our house...after that I've never lived in the hood again...lol
