PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Trail Blazers center Greg Oden will undergo microfracture surgery on his left knee Friday and will miss the remainder of the 2010-11 season, the Trail Blazers announced this evening.

Dr. Richard Steadman will perform the surgery with a.ssistance from Trail Blazers orthopedic surgeon Dr. Don Roberts at the Steadman Hawkins Clinic in Vail, Colo.

Oden, 22, has been sidelined since fracturing his left patella in a Dec. 5, 2009, game vs. Houston. A recent MRI showed damaged cartilage to the surface of his femur, and his current injury is unrelated to the fractured left patella.

Oden previously underwent microfracture surgery on his right knee Sept. 13, 2007.

Microfracture Surgery

The Trail Blazers announced tonight that center Greg Oden will undergo his second microfracture surgery in three years.

Oden will undergo surgery Friday on his left knee, the one which suffered a fractured patella last Dec. 5 in a game against Houston at the Rose Garden. He will miss the remainder of the 2010-11 season. Since being drafted with the first pick of the 2007 NBA draft, Oden has missed 176 games due to injury and has played in 82 games.

Dr. Richard Steadman will perform the surgery Friday with a.ssistance from Trail Blazers orthopedic surgeon Dr. Don Roberts at the Steadman Hawkins Clinic in Vail, Colo.

The team said in a release tonight that a recent MRI showed damaged cartilage to the surface of his femur, and his current injury is unrelated to the fractured left patella. Oden previously underwent microfracture surgery on his right knee Sept. 13, 2007.

Oden has averaged 9.4 points, 7.3 rebounds, 0.6 a.ssists and 1.43 blocked shots in 82 games over parts of two seasons from 2008-09.

The Blazers have scheduled a press conference for 9:00 to discuss Oden's surgery. Watch oregonlive.com for live updates.

Just go to Europe. Blazers said it was most likely they was not going to pick up his option for 2011-2012 anyways. On top of that Brandon Roy's career might be over, man Blazers cannot get no breaks.

I saw all the Oden threads that fast I figured one more couldnt hurt.

He's out for the year after microfracture surgery on the other knee.

I guess if Dejuan Blair can play with no ACLs then Oden can get micro on both knees and bounce back

Pretty sad actually
