This is a step backwards. No one is interested in Soulja Boy doing street music. Why even care what Soulja Boy has to offer? 50 cent has at his disposal any rapper on the face of the planet and he picks Soulja Boy? That's like Jason Statham saying "You know, I think I know who I want to do a film with. Can anyone find Terrence Howard?"
Curtis is still talented but there is a reason why Hip Hop lost respect for him. He thinks he can go for the easy money going with Soulja Boy. Why not put Kevin Federline & Bow Wow on the remix? If Curtis wants to be relevant, you team up with the heavy hitters not ringtone tween favorites, imo.
If Curtis wants to be loved. Here's what you do
On the project you have
You just loaded up the boards with producers that Hip Hop respects. Is it going to sell 2 million out the gate? Probably not but it will set up a standard for quality and that base will stay with Curtis for his next effort. Why is this so hard for artists like 50 to understand? They don't want ringtones from you. They want you to work with the legends and respected names in the game. You want to shut em down truly? No features and make a sincere effort. You want to make these mf's lose it completely? One feature: Jay Z Hate it or love it, cats would lose their minds. I bet you Jay finally wants to work with Curtis again. Jesus, Soulja Boy obsession has to go. Put your pride on the shelf and dial the number for Mr Carter. No one cares about you running around in a abandoned mental asylum with a tat'd ignoramus who thinks he can make the transition from tween ringtones to the streets.
Props for this, very true. Not like 50 has to worry much about sales - he'll always sell a bit and he has enough cash to sit on for the rest of his life.
Having said that this track isn't so bad. 50's second verse is nice, that sing-songy flow is dope. It's one of three Soulja Boi tracks (along with 2 Milli and Bingo) I could bump. Soulja Boi just needs some basic flow lessons, it is SO so choppy and all the 'swag' in the world couldn't make up for a lack of even the simplest of basic flows. He just sounds like he's talking with some kind of off beat rhythm.
Also wtf is with SB changing his image every 5 minutes? First he's a cartoon character, then he's the little dude rappers wanna hang with, then he's a skinny jean rocking Lil B imitator, then he's trying to be the 'best rapper alive', now he wants to be street. Make up your damn mind you fool.
