Best car for $1000-$1500

Ok so I'm going back to school and considering a car since its a bit of a commute. I only have about $1500 tops to spend on a car so if anyone has any ideas on a good solid car that will get me through the winter I'd appreciate it! Thanks

anything that runs cool. dont be picky on a set brand or model for that price, try to find somethin that isnt beat to shiit.

for a decent car that cheap have ur cash in hand and check CL daily cuz anything that cheap that runs cool will sell fast every day.

if u want more info about a specific car then post the sale ad of somethin u see

any "sporty" style car in that price range will probably have been abused or need work.

his best bet is a grandma/pa owned car that saw mostly grocery store action.

also i forgot to mention in my first post that if u can drive a stick, it would probably be better. slushboxes are much more prone to failure and will cost more than your budget for the car in parts alone. i'd only consider an auto if it was replaced in the last couple years.

@op - can you work on cars at all?

just bought a honda passport 97' for 250$ granted it was off a crack head but theres absolutely nothin wrong with it at 115K miles...I also have a acura integra 94' with 230K i bought in Jan for 1800$ and ive put about 600$ worth of work into it, and needs about another 1k worth of work to be running perfectly..thought about selling the honda for 2k and fixing up the integra but being that i live in maine right now the passport sounds like a better option for the winter..only thing is I can prob only get less that 1k for the integra..so end of the day im still broke n got two whips..smh

if u get a car for super cheap i mean waaaaaay under kbb theres no reason why u shouldnt have comprehensive on it that way if it does get stolen u spent 200 on a whip worth 2gz if somebody steals it u make a profit and can buy something even better
