Being honest, Heyward's going to have a great career, could end up being better than Posey so I'm definitely not hating. But we're walking into Game 1 of the NLDS right now, not 2 seasons from now. But I hear you, that's a miscommunication.
The Yankees farm system is doing some great stuff right now. They don't rely on rookies but I don't think you can say that they don't value the contribution of their rookies, which is the perception of many baseball fans toward the Yankees.
Yeah I know the farm system is actually starting to be built up by the Yankees. If a salary cap went into effect the Yankees probably wouldn't be as hurt as some teams would. The perception is there for most fans because in the 90s-2005? (might be wrong year) the Yankees loved to trade away their minor leaguers for players. It's not easy to have a farm system when you trade ever prospect away.
As Frank Castanza says to George Steinbrenner (larry david) in Seinfeld: "What the hell did you trade Jay Buhner for?! He had 30 home runs, over 100 RBIs last year! He's got a rocket for an arm."
