Should Drake have signed to Rap-A-Lot? Was he too scared??

since J. Prince's son helped put Drake on, and got to be an executive producer on the album, do you think that at some point Rap-A-Lot expected that Drake would sign with them?

Was Drake too scared to sign to them, given their reputation? Not the Baby and Slim aren't grimey and gangsta as f**k, but Wayne and Young Money and the mainstream image insulate Drake's Canadian softness from the label's real dirt. On RAL there'd be nothing like that.

Do you think this was what happened? Did Drake f**k up, and maybe make some enemies on the low, for not showing loyalty to the RAL mafia??? Will this come back to bite him in the a.ss??

He wouldn't be as big as he is now if he signed with Rap-A-Lot. Young Money, at the moment, is the right label to sign to if you got that mainstream appeal.

Drake made the right move....being a Trill street rapper aint in him

Signing with YM was the best decision of his life cuz that means he'll be around for at least the next 10 years and he'll prolly have his own label in the next 5.

i guess I didn't mean "should" as in "for his career"

i mean "should" as in "for his own longterm saftey in the industry"

thats what I'm saying, though, maybe I phrased it wrong

do you think there will be any future consequences for Drake NOT signing to them? Will he get punished for disloyalty in the future?

Stupid thread. Obviously Drake and rap a lot is cool if he performed on vhi for them and they got points on his albums. Not to mention he shouts them out in his songs

He is a part of da Rap-A-Lot fam. Jas been a YM affiliate 4 da longest b4 they took off(all in da videos & rock'n da chain) even b4 Gudda came back. So Jas introduced Drake's music 2 Wayne & da rest is history. Go back & do da history of CMR/Rap-A-Lot/UGK(when they were on Jive). They been a click so 2 speak since b4 CMR hit da scene majorly.

he wasn't disloyal, it was just a business move for him

he's always shouting out RAL and Houston from what I hear (I don't f**k with him so I wouldn't know first-hand) so as long as he doesn't talk sideways about em I guess he's cool wit em
