they can its just another salty rapper who is not that successful complaining
All skilled MCs (minus J.Cole since I simply dont/havent listened to him) but his argument was rappers at the forefront. In order to be at the forefront of hip hop in the 90s you had to be skillful for the most part. Now a days you simply have to be marketable. Your talent doesnt matter, they will find a way to push your recycled, talentless a.ss down the masses throats and they will swallow and ask for more. Not only that they will argue that these artist are indeed "nice".

Do you like to troll or are you truly that ignorant? Jay was respected heavily as an MC from Reasonable Doubt and Vol.1. He his mainstream success started with the release of Vol.2 (Hard knock Life).

I think musically, hip-hop is at its best right now, but that's not just because of the artists, in fact i think its more because of the evolution of the genre and the fact that its become a big part of culture rather than being an outcast and being considered counter-culture in the 90's because of all the violence and controversy surrounding the music back then. I don't mean the commercial stuff is better, it obviously isn't, I mean that some of the best artists in hip-hop have the resources to produce not only great hip-hop music, but great MUSIC period, not to say that it wasn't great before, but I think artists are getting very confident to do different things. I think artists are more willing to collaborate with other genres and listen to way different stuff than ever before, I can't imagine rappers from the 90's collaborating with Weezer or recruiting people who did movie scores etc. like they do now, but there were way too many good rappers in the 90's that are better than the 00's. There's maybe 10 people that I think can deliver the same quality, sometimes, that most of the 90's rappers did, but not alot considering the list that JFamis put up.

Isn't volume 2 his highest selling album? Jay is definitely not a 00's artist.

Lupe can hang with anyone honestly, and J.Cole would hold his own.. Don't matter what era you from, if you can flow, got meaningful lyrics with substance, you will have success maybe not mainstream though in current times... But substance was also accepted and one of the most things important things in the 90's.. In the current era its all about who has the best club banger..

Generations are getting dumber and dumber it's evident in the music.

You put Wayne on a track with some real lyricist and you will see how average he is. The vast majority of Wayne fans arent buying good music, they are buying an image.

I agree. Im really feeling Gibbs. He is kind of a throwback. Although he is a new face he isnt a lil n*gga. He 27/28 so he is still relatively young despite him just starting to get noticed. He still sint getting the shine he deserves. He is the best new n*gga in the game.

J Cole is just a wannabe. Nothing is authentic about him. He'll just keep cloning other sounds until he finds something thats makes him money.

Wayne can hold his own, I agree. But, Wayne is a 90s rapper, too, don't forget. And in the conversation of 90s rappers, he isn't as good. Compare The Carter or Carter II to some of the best albums from the 90s and tell me Wayne is hanging with them. I'm a Lil Wayne fan, but old school rappers obviously s**t on him.
