Magic Calls Out LeBron "That's Not What We Were About"

[pic - click to view]

Add Magic Johnson voice to fellow Hall of Famer Michael Jordan's: Neither ever thought of combining forces the way LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh did earlier this month with the Miami Heat.

"We didn't think about it cause that's not what we were about," Johnson said at Baruch College in New York, according to Bloomberg News. "From college, I was trying to figure out how to beat Larry Bird."

Last weekend, Jordan said at a celebrity golf event that he never would have played with Johnson or Larry Bird, his two main rivals during his playing days.

"There's no way, with hindsight, I would've ever called up Larry [Bird], called up Magic [Johnson] and said, 'Hey, look, let's get together and play on one team,'" Jordan said after playing in a celebrity golf tournament in Nevada. The interview aired on the NBC telecast of the event. "But that's ... things are different. I can't say that's a bad thing. It's an opportunity these kids have today. In all honesty, I was trying to beat those guys."

Johnson added on Tuesday: "It was never a question in our mind because nobody has ever done that."

Wade re-signed with Miami, while James and Bosh joined the Heat via free agency earlier this month.

It was a different era of basketball where bad gm's gave away picks that turned into gold for nothing. Those team's cores were never usually formed through free agency. Deep benches, but not cores. Stop saying stupid s**t. You're the one who was bashing LeBron before he signed with Miami now you run into every LeBron thread like you're Captain Save-A-Ho.

Ummm.. more like Lakers drafted good and got the best out of their stars and role players.. If you say otherwise go drown a shark.

James, Earvin and Kareem are all on the "NBA Greatest Players" list

s**t, not to many teams can brag about having a three headed monster like that.

Maybe

Magic, Bird and Jordan as dominate as they were let the players on their team be themselves and didnt force them into roles they couldnt play this is why they were successful and the help looked so good.

Nothing wrong with Kareem joining. He won a championship b4 he came to LA. Lakers lucked up with Worthy because of the draft.

Why would they ever need to team up when there supporting casts were already top notch though thats why its really pointless for them to speak out

This is boxden, logic and true reasoning goes out the door if it doesn't support their flawed point...

Magic wasn't running around trying to join the Bulls when Kareem got old, and Worthy's game diminshed.. He stayed true elevated his game and won a few more championships.

They are speaking out because the true legends never wanted to "share" a spotlight, they wanted to prove they were flat out the best in the league by beating, embarassing, and dismantling anyone who was considered in their class.. Magic loved Larry, but he damn sure would have never joined the Celtics if his team was s**t, nor would Larry, who wanted to beat and destroy Magic.. You n*ggas seen the documentary, stop acting like Magic aint speaking real talk.. If LeBron wanted to be the MAN and be regarded as a potential GOAT, he would have joined the Knicks or Bulls. Both teams capable of putting a championship team around him without him joining a super power.. Bulls with already a supporting cast in place, and the Knicks with cap money to bring in someone else.

Miami option was, is, and will forever be a wrong move, and he'll get no respect from his peers.. Respect is EVERYTHING.. Yeah his probable future championships will never be taken away from him, but what good are they when nobody respects them?

That's 3 of the top 5 players ever relegating the self-anointed "King" to court jester..

He's not Magic, he's not Michael..

At least he still has a chance to have Clyde Drexler's legacy if he plays his cards right

I wasn't aware that McHale,DJ, Parrish and his cast won something before Larry got there.. And what does Bill Russell,Cousey and Havlicek, n*ggas who played 15 years before Larry got their have to do with the 80's dynasty.. I dont see your point.

so basically its all good if you get drafted to play all long side shaq one of the greatest centers and top 7 player of all time or you get drafted to play all long side four HOF's like bird did with mchale/parrish/dennis johnson/bill walton or because you get drafted to play a long side James Worthy and one of the GOAT centers in kareem

but nooooo in free agency its not allowed you have to stay with s**tty a.ss cleveland, there bum a.ss squad and there loser a.ss franshise who hasnt won s**t in 100 years
Why do you keep avoid the point I made.. You know what I'm saying is truth.. Nobody has a problem with him leaving, it's the fact that he joined another top 3 player in the game thats the problem when there were other teams, that didn't have a top 3 player in the league and he could have won with them, if leaving cleveland was an absolute must have too. Nobdy on the Celtics was top 3 in the league at the time when Larry played, Kareem wasn't top 3 in the league in the 80's.. MJ LARRY AND MAGIC was. Just like Bron,Kobe and Wade are now..

THATS the point, but yet you constantly ignore that fact. Time and time again.

What magic was saying was that he would have never called up 2 superstar free agents and be like lets hook up n win some chips.. he wasnt being hypocritical he just also happened to play on a team with greats
