before i can even start to think formulate a retort i must ask your feelings on the tea bagger movement and their cry to "take back our country"..what does that even mean? i thought we were all Americans? anyhow, i wont justify ignorance with ignorance, but if you are to chastise one group you'll have to chastise the other.....its only fair. not doing so will make you just as ignorant

Gotta love it when white people are on some "slavery was 100 years ago, move on" s**t. People love to speak on some s**t as if they know what the other person goes through. A white person has no idea what its like to be black the same way a straight person has no idea what its like to be gay. It takes time to reverse some s**t thats been ingrained in you for generations.
Dude, you're in the same boat as those white people who say "slavery was 100 years ago," because just like them...YOU WEREN'T A SLAVE EITHER!

He taught slave masters how to control black people long after "physical slavery" was "supposedly" ended... mental slavery is f**king us now.

while i see your rationale, i have to disagree with your point. grant it, we personally are not slaves. however, alot of us either know someone who was or are from a direct lineage......slavery did not end in south america until a few decades ago

are the jews wrong for remembering the holocaust? are native americans wrong for remembering their plight?.....no, because these unfortunate events lead to an imbalance of power. the only group to really come out of such abuse were the jews due to their strong connection in their faith and ease of a.ssimilation

blacks were not only stripped of their identity but were conditioned to believe they were sub-human....non black americans were trained to treat blacks like this. its a system thats hard to break by many. just listen to the tea bagger's rhetoric.....

now, thats no excuse to be lazy and the majority of black americans (if you haven't noticed) aren't. minorities in general are hard workers which is why we are here in the first place.

whites dont like hearing about slavery because they hate to be reminded of their ugly past and refuse to think that the playing field is unfortunately not even.....blacks americans aren't owed anything but a fair chance. and if it isnt given to them it must be mandated by law....

^^^ Not really.

The Irish were also slaves under the English at the same time as the Africans were.

The result being that over half of their population was k!lled when they tried to overthrow the English.

Of course, that usually gets left out when referencing slavery and white people.

You know the difference between the Jewish Holocaust, The Native America Massacre and Black Slavery? The difference is: The Jews and the Native Americans moved on and have gone on to do great things in their cultures and in the world. Blacks are still using slavery as an excuse for failing and not attempting to be productive. You don't see Jews and Native Americans on TV, writing books, making movies, etc. about what their people went through and blaming that for their current conditions. But you see black people do that all the time. Whenever something doesn't go right for black people, the blame always goes to white people and slavery. I'm sure the Jews and Native Americans haven't forgotten their history, but they don't use it as excuse to be failures. Black Americans have as fair of a chance as anyone else. Explain to me why Asians, Africans, Middle-Easterners, Hispanics, etc. all move to America, start businesses and get rich...but yet, people claim it's setup so only white people can succeed. Explain that, to me. You can't because it's nothing but an excuse. Black Americans have the same opportunities as anyone else, but fail to take advantage of them. You want to be in the same class as a Bill Gates or Warren Buffett, but you want to walk around acting like an ignorant negro off the corner? It doesn't work like that....

White people of today have no need to hate hearing about slavery because no white person alive today owned any slaves. I'm a black person who's telling every white reading this --- YOU DON'T OWE BLACK PEOPLE ANYTHING. You had nothing to do with what your ancestors did. It's not your fault that black people are busy worshipping rappers and athletes instead of being productive in the world.

yeah, but the irish in america were allowed to become cops while it was illegal for blacks to own guns..they went to school while it was illegal for blacks to go..irish people were still allowed in "whites only" establishments....its not the same. i thought we were talking about america?

and no, we all know there were plenty of white slaves. but guess what, they were enslaved by other whites so the racial indifference is not the same.....nice try

No, we were talking about slavery and the mental effects it has on people who were never slaves.

And guess what? Black slaves were sold to white people by other black rulers. Nice try.

that's good for you brother and i respect your opinion....but to say everything is equal is not correct. if it was, we wouldn't have a need for affirmative action (which helped ALL minorities and is the main reason people like clarence thomas and obama are where they are at)

now onto the jews and native americans.....if you watch tv, you will notice that every other special is about the holocaust and/or the nazis. coincidence? no, this is a way to remind everyone. subtle but effective. let alone the countless movies made about it. as for the native americans, their reparations came about through several federal programs and casino licenses, they are slowly "getting right". however, they're so messed up they have little to no public figures voicing their concerns. its sad that you are taking their lack of representation as natives being happy with their current situation. check yourself brother.

you're right, no one owes anyone an apology. however, the playing field has to be equal. you can't continue saying you have done nothing wrong while purposely taking advantage of the imbalanced nature of our workforce directly connected to the slave days. that is not right.....

as a latino, i can say with 100% a.ssurance that black latinos look up to black americans. they have accomplished things here that are impossible in latin america. so to say that blacks are lazy and act like "off the block negros" is extremely dangerous. seems like you have been way too influenced by tv and not able to see the beautiful things we have accomplished even while working against such injustice. do your research man

Although I will disagree that Native Americans have had a much harder time over-coming their past, at least where I live.

so what you are saying is that if an Irish man walks into a bar in England he will be treated the same as a black man who walks into an all white bar in Tallahassee Florida?

if that is your point, i have no words for you

Oh yea, white people were worse bc they controlled a market that black people helped make possible by slaving out their own people. lol Waaaay worse. You're really trying hard to make it seem like black people were the only ones to ever be victimized.

I've done my research by living in the real world on both sides of the fence. I've lived in the hood and I've lived the middle class life. This has been witnessed with my own eyes, not from watching TV or listening to rappers.
Trust me, the playing field is as even as it's gonna get. People just need to take responsibility for everything in their lives and stop making excuses. So-called racism can't stop you if you really want to be successful in your life. Minorities can read, write, do math, etc. Use those tools, especially reading, to educate yourselves and break this self-pitying attitude. When I say read, I don't mean the material that feed into this self-pitying crap. I mean read books that empower you. That is a problem by itself though, minorities not wanting to use those basic skills that were once illegal to possess...not knowing that those are the key!

ha! ive been completely respectful of your points so your lack of respect speaks volume....

the fact the slavery formed our opinions on racial inferiority/superiority our society still dictates roles based on these thought patterns. there's a reason why we just elected our FIRST black president. there's a reason why many attack him even in his second year more so than our previous president who ruined our country in 8.

also, look at the disparity within the workforce and schools. let me guess, this is because of rap music, right?

you can't take advantage of such an imbalanced playing field then turn around and say "its not my fault" that's a sophomoric view to take

lol right.

Basically, you're blaiming history for the weak mentality that black people have today? Not my opinion, but that's how I'm interpreting what you just said.

If a black person honestly feels that they are inferior, as you put it, bc of their race, then they should just save us all the trouble and roll over and die right now. Nobody with a mindset like that will ever get anywhere in today's world.

You're looking for a reason to why black people have been so slow to overcome things that other races already have and from your posts it would seem fair to a.ssume that it's bc they're more worried about making sense of the past than making plans for the future.

And nobody is "taking advantage" of anything. You act like black people are the only ones who grow up poor, attend s**tty schools, and can't get a good job. Not the case.
