THe album good after a couple listens...

it aint what everybody say it is: "Best thing ever" "hip hop is alive" "Dreezy is the new Kanye" "Drake is genius"

No it aint all that by far, but a good album dont kno if i can quite give it "Classic" status. thats tough

Drake is going to be a good artist in the long run he still needs development.

He left a couple beats dry on this album when he shoulda ripped them apart.

Production 8/10 coulda got 10/10 but that swizz beats track is garbage shouldnt have made album
Lyrics 7/10 Like i say he left a couple beats dry (Karaoke sounds like an interlude, he swagger jacked roscoe dash on Up All Night, He k!lled Thank Me Now & Fireworks (he shoulda just let Keyes have the hook) Unforgettable sound like it shoulda been Jeezy song.

Overall 7.5/10 Not bad for a first album. He is going to develop just fine. He got the right Blue Print that works for him. Should sing less ( we know that he is talented he doesnt have to flex it reminds me of Lebron James) This is a good album that will be in my deck for a while well until i hear Eminem. But will probably rotate this CD with EM.
U buggin, that swizz track was one of the best on the album, especially when the beat switch up, i dunno i thought it was one of the better beats on the cd. But, i dont have much to say bout this cd anymore, im already a bit tired of hearin this s**t.

The Best Debut since F&L. A solid 4/5. Best debut from any of the freshman thus far. Especially B.o.B. who dropped the worst album this year. Buttlegum bulls**t. This is good music. Emotion and everything

This a beautiful album, that's how I'm gonna describe it. I only listened to it for a week and then recovery came so I so I went to that. But listening to this again, It's a great album. I like how this came out right when Em's did, TML and Recovery balance out each other nicely, listen to them both.

I've really been saving my judgement on this album since it leaked. I actually never downloaded the leaked version, but I kinda cycled through the songs on youtube. I copped this album and havent stopped listening since...Drake has made me a believer. I wouldnt say I was a Drake fan, but a supporter since I first started rocking his mixtapes in 2007.
Before that I think I even posted that I didnt think it was as good as "So Far Gone". I now think that it is just as strong if not better as a body of work. Drake is definitely not going to be mistaken for Nas, Em or Jay in the technical department anytime soon. However in terms of being a good songwriter and hit maker, he's making a good case for himself. The songs themselves are not overwhelming, at least on first listen. But play "Show Me A Good time" at least twice and you'll be singing it all day. Thats the same with joints like "Miss me", "Thank Me Now" and "Fancy".
I love the way the album is sequenced as well. Starting off very moody and building up. He transitions "Resistance" into "Over" using the last line. Then "Over" transitions into "Show Me A Good Time" then the album peaks in intensity with "Up All Night" and then simmers back down after "Fancy".
The thing that shines for me on this album is that Drake has a strong team around him and even songs like "Find Your Love" now sound good to me within the context of this album. What I love about this album is that it is subtle and not an all out in your face commercial effort.

I am honestly surprised by this album, in a good way. I'll never call Drake the best rapper and in fact I'd probably call this album a hip-hop influenced R&B pop album, however I like his honesty and he gets over his ideas clearly and succinctly with on waffling, and he doesnt just talk nonsense. He lets you into his thoughts, and no some people may not be able to relate but touching on topics like growing up in a divorced house will relate to some.
For the last week I've only been listening to this and "Recovery" and I have to say this is a more entertaining album overall. Again skill wise there is no comparison, Em is superior, but music wise Drake and his team just make me feel better....and I no that will make no sense to many people.

I give it a 7.5/10.

What ? Most albums don't offer such a varation in tracks anymore :agreement6:
The choruses all sound the same and all he talks about is how he made it from nothing I mean damn dude can't you switch it up sometimes... and the hooks are so simple and boring
