What do you think the chances are that the Sox make a push for Cliff Lee this offseason? to keep him away from the Yankees and make our rotation that much better. I'm not saying we're going to sign him, but imagine Lee, Lester, Buch, Beckett, Lackey ?

Hopefully Wake retires, dudes in his 40's, time to hang it up. I dont know about Dice-K though. i think next year is his last year of the contract, so could be a tough call.

all this time off becketts had might be a blessing in disguise if his arm is fresh down the stretch should be interesting. btw we got colorado tuesday and i heard ubaldo jiminez is pitching
Yes Beckett is still a horse and a dominate pitcher when he is on.

If he comes back and give us 80% of that good Beckett he could be the difference in pushing us on top down the stretch. We are already pulling into first without our ace, an "offensively challenged" lineup (bulls**t top 3 IMO), and our worst start since the 96 season (85 wins, no playoffs).

We are still pacing for the high 90s and solid spot in October.

They are going to rename our park to "Wakefield park" some day, he will be in a wheel chair throwing 30MPH knucklers and somehow producing.

On another note what are the chances these happen?

Lester wins 20 games (love to see it happen), Bucholz? (I would say 17-18)
Youk & Ped career high in HR and RBIs?
Beltre finishes team leader in RBIs?
Ortiz hits 30+ again?
Any Cy Young or MVP winners here?

I could see either Lester or Buch winning 20 games, i dont think both will, thatd be crazy though.

yeah our lineup is just so s**tty though.... who would have thought we'd be in the top 3 in runs with that "weak a.ss lineup". I said at the beginning of the year, if the Sox make the playoffs, Youk should win MVP, and he's definitely in the running right now, although it looks like Cabrera as of right now, but still a lot of time for him to choke and Youk to tear it up

do you guys think we're all set or should we add someone at the trade deadline? if so what area would you seek to improve? we're gonna get better anyways just by getting healthy. btw it's only a matter of time before lowell gets cut he's taking up a roster spot and we're not even using him

we need to get rid of lowell, i dont care for what, he needs to go. I dont see us making major moves, maybe add an OF because our OF has been a joke Redd*ck, McDonald, Drew basically all year they've been doing the job though

but if Ellsbury is going to be out a longer time, maybe we should add a cheap OF, I think we're set though Dice was pitching great before going to the DL, as is lester and buch, and Lackeys winning, not great era and K numbers but good wins

Add a big bat position player eg. Gonzalez. via trade for young arms. You know Buck and Bard are looking valuable right now.

This would allow a release for Lowell and Beltre would be reduced to a bench role, fine with me as I see him cooling off down the stretch. (His first half production is already worth the singing IMO)

I want Gonzalez as much as anyone, but I dont want to give up Buch, I'd rather us center the deal around Pap. But if we do get him, I dont think that will go over well with Beltre, he's been playing his a.ss off and wants to earn a big contract (does he have an option for next year or was it strictly a 1 year deal?). I dont think he'd like being a bench player. Although we'd be much better with Gonzo at 1st and Youk at 3rd

Maybe package some of our OFs we've been using with Papelbon and make it happen

Rob Bradford of WEEI.com reports that the Red Sox have shown interest in recently-released shortstop Adam Everett.

Everett was dumped by the Tigers last week after opening the season with a poor .185/.221/.247 batting line in his first 81 at-bats. He's not exactly an intimidating hitter, but the Red Sox are working with Bill Hall as their backup shortstop and second baseman, and would like to improve defensively.
