Its hard to tell whether or not people on BX are saying something out of spite or out of ignorance. If its the latter Ill give you the information you need.
Have a look at
The actors actually DID act in this movie. Your probably envisioning the actors standing at a microphone doing a voiceover then someone in a studio doing the art and animation on a computer. Thats not what happened. Every movement, every fall, jump run, and even facial expression and hair physics was all done by the actors and actresses themselves. They went as far as to glue motion captured dreds to the actors to get real hair physics for the scenes. Each actor and actress that had a f!ght scene took the appropriate martial arts training, and the in movie cgi designs were made to look like the actual actors for more than one reason. One because it fit with the synopsis of the movie, but two because they used realtime face mapping on the actors while they performed the scenes to create the facial animations on the CGI characters (this is why you see them all wearing huge headsets with cameras attached to the front of them in the above video).
So in short, yes. There was acting in the movie, the entirety of the movie was acting. This wasnt a typical cheap a.ss mo-cap job.
