The Official 82nd Annual Academy Awards Thread

The Academy Awards are less than two days away:applause: My predictions are in bold with who I think will win. This year Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin will be hosting so I think that this year it won't be as boring as previous years. I still think Steve Martin is pretty funny, so I hope they don't disappoint. What are your predictions? The Oscars air on March 7th 2010 at 5PM PT / 8PM ET on ABC.

Does anyone know if someone is performing? I was trying to look it up and I couldn't find anything.... I really don't remember anyone performing except like Anne Hathaway last year I think lol.

I agree with all that except Best Picture... I'm picking Avatar to win. I like shiny objects.

Plus all the negative press about THL is annoying as s**t... first the co-producer writes letters to the academy begging them to pick THL for best picture, now the writer supposedly ripped off the bomb squad he was with in Iraq.

A great movie though, and I guess the press has nothing to do with how great the movie is, just annoying as f**k.

Yeah I don't think it was the best out of the group but I think it will win. Every time something good comes out, someone is always talking about someone stole their idea. It could be possible, but why is it just now coming out that they stole it? I want Basterds to win but I know it won't lol.

I've been saying this from the get-go, IB won't win because it's not real history IMO. It's a hella good movie though with a great script, action, screenplay, etc.

THL & Avatar are the obvious choices, but there are some real gems this year besides the obvious.

As for the guy just now b**ching about them ripping off his life story for THL... He's probably defusing IED's in Iraq RIGHT NOW and word just got back to him

If the guy is who he says he is, he wants to be snuggled up next to a nuke dreaming of cutting the green wire while his comrades are sniping 3 feet to his left... He might have thought is was all bulls**t?

I think you're reaching with that This movie been out since 2008, I think he would have found out by now lol. And is he the only one that ever defused bombs? lol I know this movie will probably win big, but I just didn't like it like most people did.

I'm really not though, that's exactly how the guy is in real life supposedly, and yes, he was the only one from his squad that would defuse the bombs. The other squad members were the lookouts.

@Bonnie I know he was the only one diffusing bombs from his squad. I was talking about the only one ever to do it. And the guy that wrote the script was a journalist who was in Iraq and maybe he wrote it about different people and made it into one character. But of course he had to take the events that happened to write the movie and show how it really was in Iraq, so I don't know. The guy with the accusations probably want some money for his story.

Hogue I pretty much agree with your list. I was gonna put either Meryl Streep or Sandra Bullock too for best actress. It's hard going up against Meryl cause she usually comes out with an oscar. But i think Sandra might get it.

That's about how I am. More like 70/30 for me I saw the independent awards last night like 3 times cause IFC kept playing it lol. And the giirl who played precious is nothing like her character at all. She talks like she's from the burbs and she's all nervous and laughing all the damn time lol, but it made me appreciate her acting ability a lil but cause she don't even sound anything like Precious. It took me for a loop like when I heard Idris Elba in an interview right after the first season of the wire finished airing. I was like But my point was just that I think she deserves to win, but I know that wont happen at all lol.
