Why are you stuck on green stfu ?

He said he is grateful already to be allowed in...but you asking him to keep hush on his confidence when people ask him direct questions or when he gives his predictions...

Froch said he would do in Dirrell, Dirrell talked the most s**t at the intitial nyc press conference to announce, kessler said ward would go out, AA said He wasn't impressed with AD all these dudes talk alot of s**t... so what Green does the same thing it's boxing and promoting

I'm stuck on Green? Anytime Goosen says anything, you on his a.ss. Anytime Ward says anything, you on his a.ss. I'm not sure where your hatred of Ward started, but.. it's apparent.

I dunno where i said that Green can't be confident about boxing, you gonna have to show me that. I said he need to stfu about demands, and stfu about the business... he's not a doctor, he don't know sh*t about Ward's knee, so, he need to stfu about that.

I gotta sit here and listen to this fool talk about how he think Ward scared of him and how he doesn't think Ward will get in the ring with him. Correct me if I'm wrong, but.... It was Green who pulled out of an HBO f!ght with Andre Ward a couple years back, right? Answer, YES!!! Maybe if Green didn't skip out, and won... maybe his career would not have taken the nosedive it did. However, he managed to get in this tourney, get 2 title shots, and make Jermain Taylor money.... he need to be EXTREMELY grateful, and
S... T... F... U!!!

Outside of Judah and Golota... and maybe Clottey, no one has gotten the chances Green has gotten.

lol huh ?

you really trying to hard... relax and kick your shoes off... I love Dan Goosen all thing I've ever said was I don't wanna hear about anything else but the f!ght is a go after Ward caused the delay, where are you going with all that extra stuff?

You simply said green needs to stfu I just wanted to know why anybody needs to stfu... all these dudes have come reckless only person who I thought needed to stfu with a reason was Froch boasting about his (SD) win over Dirrell

No you don't gotta sit there and listen to Green talk down on Ward press mute on all the audio, X out all the interviews, and don't tune into the SuperSix series show that never seems to impress you much.

Green needs to stfu because most of the stuff he is talking about has nothing to do with himself or his skills as a boxer. He needs to leave the business to the business man.

Froch can say anything he wants after he kept his title (via split robbery). Then he is a victim in someone else's hometown and he is threatening to pull out of the tourney... now he needs to stfu.

Dirrell was sure that he was gonna take that title from Froch... he was telling every and anybody that. Cool. Then he lost to Froch... and all he said was that he thought he won, and moved on. That's proper.

Green on the other hand comes in talking about people's psyche about Taylor pulling out. Talking about the legitimacy of people's injuries. Talking about how Ward never gonna get in the ring with him... when fact is, he coulda fought Ward 2 years ago. Green always talking about conspiracies against him... YES! Dude needs to stfu and stick to boxing.

Why should I tune Green out... I am tuning in to hear him say something about boxing! To hear him say something about himself!! I'm still waiting though.....

Super middleweight Andre Ward has learned over the years that training for a f!ght doesn’t mean “living like a caveman and staring at a wall to focus on a f!ght.” Ward, who f!ghts Allan Green on June 19 in Oakland, Calif., to close out the second round of the Super Six World Boxing Classic, said at a public workout that he balances f!ght preparation with relaxation–which these days includes watching the NBA Finals. Ward predicted that the Los Angeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics will split the next two games in Boston and when the series returns to Los Angeles, the Lakers, up 2-1 in the best-of-7 series, will win the title.

-------

Allan Green Camp Notes
June 19 Super Six World Boxing Classic

Howard Schatz

Allan Green is in the tapering -down stage of training camp now, with less than 9 days before his WBA title bout with Andre Ward. He’s very confident about his training camp and preparation for his title f!ght, which will air live on SHOWTIME® Saturday, June 19 at 10:00 pm ET/PT (delayed on the west coast) from the Oracle Arena in Oakland, Calif.

For most f!ghters a normal training camp can last anywhere from 6-8 weeks at a remote training facility far from home to limit distractions. But for Allan Green that has not always been the situation. Most of the time he has taken f!ghts on late notice anywhere from 3-4 weeks, which means he always had to be ready and stay in some kind of shape. For his upcoming f!ght with Andre Ward he’s had 7 weeks to concentrate, prepared and focus on one f!ght and it has made a huge difference.

“It was very frustrating having to take f!ghts on short notice,” said Green. “I had to take a f!ght once on 10 days notice and my last f!ght in October against Tarvis Simms was approximately a 4 week training camp. Taking f!ghts on short notice you have to worry about making weight, conditioning and sparring sessions. When you have those concerns it doesn’t allow you much time to work on strategy. This training camp has been great for me and my team. It’s made a huge difference with my attitude having a full 7 weeks to prepare myself. I’m like a kid in the candy store because I know mentally and physically I’m prepared to do battle with Andre Ward.”

Allan Green doesn’t want his f!ght with Andre Ward to even go the maximum 12 rounds, he wants to knock out Ward much earlier. Still, for Green, it’s nice to know he can go 14 rounds if necessary.

Trainer John David Jackson has put Green through a very intense training camp and is very pleased with Green’s conditioning and mental approach for his first title f!ght.

“Last week Allan did 14 rounds with ease,” said Jackson. “He’s in excellent shape. Allan is peaking at just the right time. The sparring sessions have been very intense. He’s finishing real strong with the mitts and there is a good snap on his punches. But what I like most with Allan is the way he’s approaching the f!ght. He comes to the gym everyday with the attitude it’s f!ght night. This camp is very confident about victory.”

And how does Allan feel about going the distance?

“Preparation is the key word,” says Green. “I know I have the power to knock Andre Ward out, but I’m not looking for a one punch knockout with him. If he opens himself up for a knockout, I’m going to take it. He’s a very clever f!ghter and a hard f!ghter to catch with a knockout punch. I’m going to f!ght a smart f!ght. My training and conditioning has prepared me to go 12 rounds if I have to go the distance.”

Training camp off days for a f!ghter are very important, it gives his body a chance to rest and allows him to relax. Off days can also tell you a lot more of what a f!ghter is like when he’s away from the gym.

“On my off days I spend a lot of time talking with my kids on the phone and I read a lot of books on different subjects,” says Green. ”I guess you could say I’m a avid reader. Subjects that are of interest to me are world history, science, religion, biography and the human body. Reading books are a way of relaxing for me.”

Comic books and studying boxing history.

“One of my favorite hobbies is collecting comic books and studying boxing history,” said Green. “I must have about 500 comic books in my library and I eat, sleep and drink boxing. I’m a student of boxing history. I enjoy studying films of old time f!ghters such as Jack Johnson, Jack Dempsey, Sam Langford, Jersey Joe Walcott, Joe Louis, Willie Pep, Henry Armstrong and “Sugar” Ray Robinson, just to name a few.”

And who is Green’s favorite comic book hero and favorite boxer.

“My favorite comic book hero is Thor and “Sugar” Ray Robinson for boxing,” says Green. If you want to learn anything about how to box, just look at some of Robinson tapes. He was the complete package.”

The card is being co-promoted by Goossen Tutor Promotions and DiBella Entertainment and will air live on SHOWTIME® Saturday, June 19 at 10:00 pm ET/PT (delayed on the west coast) from the Oracle Arena in Oakland, Calif. Tickets for the June 19 Super Six World Boxing Classic are priced at $300, $150, $65 and $35 and are available at the Oracle Arena Box Office by calling (510) 569-2121 or online through Ticketmaster .

Ward: I will keep my title

TJ Hogan

Andre Ward participated at a free open workout Wednesday at King’s Gym here.
On Saturday, June 19, on SHOWTIME® (10 p.m., ET/PT, delayed on the West Coast), Ward (20-0, 13 KOs), of Oakland, will make the first defense of the World Boxing a.ssociation 168-pound title against world-ranked Allan Green (29-1, 20 KOs) of Tulsa, Okla., in a Group Stage 2 bout in the Super Six World Boxing Classic at the Oracle Arena.

What Ward said Wednesday:

(On the tremendous fans’ support in Oakland)

“It’s a lot of responsibility. Too much is given, much is required. The fan base is growing, the media attention is growing and this is what I signed up for. I’m embracing it, learning how to deal with it and just thankful to be on a platform and a stage like this and eager to just keep working and be aggressive.’’

(On what kind of f!ght he is expecting from Green)

“At this stage and this level you have to be ready for everything the opponent has to bring. In my mind I’m preparing for a very physical and very grueling f!ght. And if there is anything left, then that’s fine. That’s what I’m prepared for, to do whatever needs to be done to keep my title. I never wanted to be a guy who won a title and then lost it his first defense. I want to be a guy that reigns for a long time.’’

(On trainer Virgil Hunter and his strict regimen)

“We had our days of him being the taskmaster when I was younger, with him implementing the standard of what he was looking for in me. Every time I would come to the gym or anytime I would run and work out, he expected the highest level out of me, but fortunately he doesn’t have to push me like that (any more). He encourages me; he’s a man of wisdom. We work well hand in hand. Honestly, we don’t have to say much when we train. Don’t get me wrong — we talk strategy, but we can look at each other and know what the other one is thinking. We’re always on the same page. It’s a tremendous relationship. It’s more than just trainer and pupil. It’s like a father and son relationship.’’

(Closing thoughts)

“I want to just give a big thank you to the fans. I thank them for the support. I don’t take these media days lightly when people show up. They can be doing anything right now but they come down and take the time out of their day. I want to say thank you to the media, even the ones who maybe aren’t too particular(ly fond) of me. I mean I understand that. It’s no big deal. I just appreciate the support I get and I want to be worthy of it. I want them to know that I see you; I’m speaking of the fans. I want to continue to do my part to put on great performances and also represent myself outside the ring in a respectable way’’

OAKLAND, Calif.–-Andre Ward and Allan Green met face-to-face at today’s final press conference in advance of their Super Six World Boxing Classic and WBA World Title tilt on Saturday, June 19—live on SHOWTIME, 10p ET/PT—from Oakland’s Oracle Arena. While both men were respectful of one another, the tension in the room was nearly tangible. What’s at stake in the final Group Stage 2 bout: (photos by Tom Casino/Showtime)

· The undefeated Ward (21-0, 13 Kos) is making his first world title defense (WBA 168-pounds).

· Green (29-1, 20 Kos) is getting his first world title shot and his first Super Six bout (replacing Jermain Taylor).

· Both are seeking one of four coveted berths in the Super Six World Boxing Classic Semi-Finals.

· With a victory, Ward would clinch a spot in the Semis prior to his Group Stage 3 bout vs. Andre Dirrell; Green would still have a chance in Group Stage 3 against Mikkel Kessler.

· If Green is victorious, all six f!ghters would be virtually deadlocked going into the final and decisive Group Stage 3 matchups.

What the f!ghters had to say on Wednesday.

Andre Ward:

Well this is my favorite part of it right here… f!ght week baby. The hard work is basically over. All the interviews are basically over and it’s time to go to work. This is what I do best. To quote John Wooden, you know I don’t let the praises of the people or the criticism get to me. Because it’s a weakness to get caught up in either one. I appreciate the praises of the people, I honor that, I thank them for that. And those who… people who have a lot of negative things to say about me, even my opponent, his coach, his team, that’s fine. But I’m locked in on what I have to do. f!ght in and f!ght out. I’ve sacrificed a lot for this moment. I’ve sacrificed my wife, my kids and they’ve sacrificed a lot, too….. I don’t think people realize what’s inside of me and what kind of focus I have. They think when you get this belt that it’s time to relax. They think that I’m the one that’s being hunted and to a degree I am, but I have a lot of desire in me, man. And I got a lot of passion in me. I don’t know if he wants this belt as bad as I want to keep it, but if he does, then it’s going to be a whole lot of fun on Saturday night. We’re going to have a good show.

I have nothing negative to say about my opponent or his team. I’ve listened to what they’ve said; the disrespectful things, even the compliments, and I take it all to heart. I take them for their words and it’s pushed me and it’s driven me. Like I said at the first press conference we had, I train like I’m f!ghting a monster, period. So, that way mentally and physically that’s what I’m prepared for. It’s his time to show up. He’s done a lot of talking but it’s time to show up. It’s my time to show up and I will give the fans a tremendous performance come Saturday night.

I’m not going to tell you guys how great I am, how great I’m going to be. I’ve got to continue to show you. I’ve been in this game a long time and I understand it’s about putting in the work and showing people. It’s not about these press conferences. It’s not about the interviews. It’s about putting in the work and when it’s time to show up, show up. And that’s what I plan on doing. So, I thank everybody that’s involved with this event, SHOWTIME, Oakland, we are getting ready to do it again. Thank you.

Allan Green:

Andre Ward is a good young f!ghter. He hasn’t lost since he was twelve or thirteen years old. We understand that. We’re not minimizing him or undermining him in any way. There’s no need for me to get chuckling here today. I see children here. I see people here having a good time, but Saturday night I will be the WBA super middleweight champion. That’s what I came here for. I know what I can do.

To dissect me you’ve got to have a hell of a scalpel… to dissect Allan Green, a hell of a scalpel. Because a lot of people tend to think, they want to label me as a puncher. True, I am a puncher, but at the same time a lot of people fail to realize I’m a pure boxer. I do know how to box. I do know how to think. So if anybody’s got it in there mind thinking that I’m just coming to walk this young kid down and blast him out and blow him out the water like Kessler did…

Like I said, here’s the problem. Mikkel Kessler is from Denmark. He speaks English. Ward speaks English. Kessler understands English. Kessler doesn’t understand jive, that’s why he couldn’t deal with Andre Ward. I speak jive very well and will Saturday night.

John David Jackson (Green’s Trainer)

Everybody’s pretty much picked Andre Ward to win. I don’t know why we even showed up. James Prince said he’s ready to go to war, but one thing you got to remember when you go to war, you leave your head open for punches. And this brother (Allan Green) right here, he’s got dynamite in both hands. So, if Andre Ward comes to go to war, that’s exactly what we want. And if he does that, he won’t be champ anymore.

[pic - click to view]

Virgil Hunter (Ward’s Trainer)

The talk is over and we can get down to the grit of it. In my opinion you’re not the champ until you retire the champ. You have to be able to hold on to the title and that’s where our mind set is. Allan Green is not taken lightly. His flaws, we’ve identified them. His strengths we have identified them too. A lot has been said about what comes out of his hands, but if you look at his record, we have the better knockout percentage. Judging from the f!ghter’s and competition he’s faced, this is the first time that he’s really going to get hit. This is the first time he’s going to find out how violent Andre really is. Everything we do, we do with speed. If he stays where he is in the speed zone, he’s going to get chewed up. We are going to find out who has the dynamite in the fists. We are going to do what we always do. We are going to shock your mind, take your heart and we are going to dissect you down and constrict you and then we are going to give you a venomous bite.

[pic - click to view]

Dan Goossen (Ward’s promoter)

This is the first time in history that the Bay Area has ever hosted two back-to-back championship f!ghts within a twelve month period. First and foremost I want to thank the fans for coming out to Oakland and supporting their hometown hero. When this thing is all said and done, you’re going to see your Oakland f!ghter, you’re Bay Area f!ghter, become a pay-per-view star.

NEW YORK (June 16, 2010) –- The most competitive matchups, sustained action, consistent excitement and extraordinary drama: The Super Six World Boxing Classic on SHOWTIME® has offered undeniably the most compelling prizef!ghting on television.

When elite, confident f!ghters are matched in meaningful f!ghts, one after another, fans are guaranteed closely contested bouts and that has been the case each and every time out in this unprecedented, game-changing tournament that has not yet reached the half-way mark.

Simply, the Super Six World Boxing Classic is boxing at its best, as good as it gets, and must-see TV. You don’t want to miss a f!ght.

Through five intense, crowd-pleasing f!ghts, each world-class athlete has had to give 100 percent during every round: working, thinking, demonstrating his vast skills and talent – all to prove he is the preeminent boxer in the world at 168 pounds..

No f!ghter has been afforded the luxury of coasting or taking off a round. You relax for a moment, take a breather and let your guard down, you will lose.

In the last of the Group Stage 2 matches this Saturday, June 19, on SHOWTIME (10 p.m. ET/PT, delayed on the West Coast), undefeated Andre Ward (21-0, 13 KOs) will defend his World Boxing a.ssociation (WBA) title against world-ranked Allan Green (29-1, 20 KOs) in Ward’s hometown of Oakland, Calif.

If Ward is victorious, he cinches a berth in the semi-finals and goes to the top of the leader board with four or, potentially, five points.

But if Green prevails the Super Six World Boxing Classic becomes a six-man, three-f!ght shootout with countless possible scenarios heading into Group Stage 3 action.

So can Green, a replacement for Jermain Taylor who is making his tournament debut, make an immediate impact and become the third boxer in six f!ghts to dethrone a defending champion?

Three of the other four participants in the Super Six World Boxing Classic don’t think so. Only Carl Froch of England gives the newcomer the edge. "It’s too close to call, and in a close one, I always lean towards the puncher and Green is a big puncher and Ward isn’t,’’ said Froch (26-1, 20 KOs). “The Americans are so pro Ward and Dirrell that I’d like Green to win. I think it would spice things up if he knocked Ward out.”

Mikkel Kessler (43-2, 32 KOs) is picking Ward, but pulling for Green. “I think this will be a great f!ght. Every Super Six f!ght promises exciting action and their meeting will be no different,” Kessler said. “Having been in the ring with Ward, I know it will be very difficult for Green. I think Ward will be able to outsmart Green. My prediction is a points’ victory for him. However, I really hope Green wins. That would give me a great chance to win back my WBA belt. I really look forward to the f!ght.”

Andre Dirrell (19-1, 13 KOs) respects Green, but feels Ward has more overall skills. “Green is a dangerous f!ghter,” Dirrell declared, “but I'm eager to see what he brings to the tournament. Overall, I feel Ward is a smarter f!ghter and a better boxer who possesses more ring generalship. Ward is a faster puncher. He can wear down Green and possibly take him out.”

Arthur Abraham (31-1, 25 KOs) predicts a win for Ward in a tight f!ght. “I think Ward will win,” Abraham said. “He looked very impressive against Mikkel Kessler. He is not the Olympic champion for nothing. He is experienced, technically very strong and tactically very good. I am really looking forward to this f!ght. Green will pose a threat, though. He is very strong and a powerful puncher. It will be a very interesting f!ght.”
