If you dont know what to sell , than most likely you will fail
Why because you need to have a clue of a product before you sell or a passion for stuff you like or what the general market like's
If i were you i would sit back and think before signing the lease papers and think about other ventures that may be less like e commerce, ebay ect..

A buddy of mine just recently opened 2 kiosks reselling cellular phones from Rogers, Bell, Telus,(Canadian wireless telcos) etc. The margin is not bad, for each activation he re-sells, they get close to $150.00/cdn + he buys a bunch of accessories from China for dirt cheap and marks it up by like 800%. Trust me he caking.....
quick question. i have wholesalers in China etc, but i don't want to be the one selling them. does he sell those to other stores, kiosks, etc. because i think i'd make more money and have less work if i could be a supplier but was wondering if he did that or anybody else has done that.

for example, i buy bulk from china then sell it to a store in US for profit for them to sell. that way, they do all the work, i'm just the middle man

you could set up a little "karaoke" booth...besides the equipment, all you need is a huge Archive of Instrumentals.

Give each customer 15 minutes to record a song, and charge them $15. After they finish, apply VocAlign, Autotune, add some Reverb, Delays and EQ... which should take less than 10 minutes.

While working on the previous customers Mix, bring in the next customer to begin recording their track. So on a REALLY busy day, it may be possible to make $60 an hour.

You can either e-mail the track to the customer, or burn it to a CD.

BTW, you don't need a federal loan to set up a Kiosk, most Malls only charge you $800 a month in Rent, and a one time fee of $1,000 to design and set up the booth.
lmao they got that at northland in detroit (well southfield)

I'm applying for a federal small business loan for the purpose of opening a booth in the mall hallway (kiosk)...Its hard to find a new job in this state of the economy, especially in the city of Detroit so I've decided to be enterprising and start my own business....

The thing is, I'm not sure what to sell....I want to sell something that people won't feel that they could find better in a store in the mall...a magazine stand? milkshakes? batteries? toys? value dvds? cheap sun glasses? primarily women products (more women visit the mall than men), "Gifts Under $20"....

What do you think?
I see you said Detroit. Please tell me you are not going to try this at Fairlane.

Legality is a very slippery issue.

If he was selling "artwork" and gave out music mixes complimentary with every purchase, he doesn't need to be selling the cd to get the 5 bucks and the client gets what they want.

And therein lies the problem:

If he set up shop as a "mixtape depot", he'd get shut down. If he masks the true purpose cleverly he can operate like a mixtape retailer legally without really being one.
