LT revolutionized the game.

He's the more dominant player easily.

I'm biased as a Ravens fan, but the most I can say is that they played different roles and that Ray is the best ILB of all time..

LT is the best linebacker ever though.

Honestly, I really don't consider LT a true linebacker. He was more of a defensive end. Nowadays people call them tweeners , typically in a 3-4 system. Their responsibilities as defensive players are totally different. Their stats don't even compare to each other. Compare Ray to Butkis or Singletary.

But I voted for Ray if we are talking about choosing between 2 of the most dominant defensive players of their era. The guy is a beast and his football IQ is amazing. He plays so fast because he dissects a play before it even happens. LT was just a great pass rusher, but played the run very well.

The thing is that Taylor was sick against the run also, to say that he was a sack specialist is taking away from his greatness.

He did revolutionize the position, he would hold down the sack record easily if he didnt have to drop back into coverage which he also held his own at. Going for the strip on the sack basically came from him, he had that technique perfected to the T. Made Gibbs adjust & introduce the 1 back offense & Max Protect.

Totally True

But I also think Ray is currently changing the position. His preparation for games is unheard for defensive players, which has rubbed off on Ed Reed and its turning him into hall of famer as well. Also Ray brought speed to the ILB position that had never been seen. Now High Schools are training ILB to run 4.4 40s to be the next Ray Lewis. Just ask Patrick Willis.

If I had to start a franchise with a defensive player, it be Lewis no doubt. The dude won the f**king superbowl and superbowl MVP all by himself basically. That's unheard of...That 2000 Ravens Defense didn't have many superstars besides maybe Woodson but he was past his prime....He made all them guys play to the their highest level and you can do nothing but respect that fact.

that s**t ain't even true and what if I was...wtf does that have to do wit anything....

f**king lames always have to f**k s**t up....always dropping bulls**t comments that have no relevance to the topic

and Lewis arguably is the best LB and Ed Reed will go down as the best Safety so how are they not GOAT tandem?? or at least up there..

imo ray lewis off rip... since we all agree that both were excellent run stopppers, and almost equal in everything else, even though LT did alot more in the pass rush, but thats because he was like the first hybrid back, im lookin at the pass coverage to break the tie.....ray=28 pics, LT=9... and lets take into account leadership skills... a GOAT not only holds down they position, but they motivate the entire team around them to push themselves to the limit, and acheive greatness. ray :agreement6:

Lawrence taylor..and i get that most are to young to remember lawrence taylor,or fully understand exactly what he was,and what he did...they only have you tube clips, and stat lines to go off of....but lawrence taylor was a freak of nature...when we say he revolutionized the game...he literally changed it single handidly...he was that dominant...ray is a great lb..but he was never even in his prime as dominant as lawrence taylor was....he also has 2 rings...so he's a winner...

i'd say lawrence taylor is one of the top 10 greatest football players of all time..

Lets keep it 100l, I've got nothing but respect for Ray Lewis and the way he plays the game, but NO defensive player single-handedly dominated the way LT did.

You can find great linebackers a dime a dozen, but a premium pass rusher isn't something you can draft every single year.
