I'm drunk and could not compile this list. But when I check this thread in the morning I will attempt to compile my top ten list for you.

Imo even Casino>>>>>Godfather 1 and 2, and I know i'll get bashed for that, but it is what it is.

Actually all of that s**t mattered. Unless your one of the people who (falsely) believe the island was purgatory. The flash-sideways was purgatory, the island was real-time. Everything that happened there mattered.
He means nothing mattered cause in the end they never really explained it, only really focused on them dieing and moving on. We don't know anymore about the island, all the things that happened there. So in the end, yeah, none of what we saw really mattered, only that eventually they all died (which woulda happened if the plane never crashed anyways).

It mattered in the sense that it affected the characters that were part of it. All of these mysteries were stepping stones to get the characters to their eventual end points and I appreciate them for that. But as stand alone stories they meant s**t. There was no closure to what exactly the light was or why MIB turned into smokey(and falling down the waterfall shows us where it happened not why). Not only that but small s**t like why we saw lil Jacob running around in the last episode for no f**king reason or what the "rules" of the island were. These are a few examples and no I don't think the island is purgatory I understand that all of it was real I just feel like the writers copped out of explaining the island mythology in and of itself.

Why does everyone have to justify where this show ranks? Some will rank it 1, others will rank it 10, while still others will have no clue what this show was.

I'm a bit shocked that so many people were so confused about what was what. The side-story was them all meeting up to move on together after they died. Didn't Christian say something about not doing it alone? The Island really happened, some got off, while others died there or later. Again this was explained by Christian. I have questions, and will always have questions but the ride was so worth it.

Furthermore, the ending was so perfect because it lets you put whatever interpretation you want into the show. Here's a way you could interpret the show whichever way you want. Who was Jacob/MIB? Maybe if are religious they were God & the Devil. Maybe they are just some good & evil force that could be released onto the world.

If they all died anyway they would not have died in the same way. It was a story about CHARACTERS and character development. And everything that happened did matter as it was a part of that character development. You sound like you really hate the show . If so, good riddance, seeing as how the rest of America loved the show and it will be seen as the standard for years to come.

I agree with most of what im hearing. I loved how the characters ended, I think that the reunions were some of the most memorable interactions between characters in any show ever made, however, i feel extremely cheated when it comes to anything regarding the island. The alternate universe was completely pointless in my eyes, it did serve as a satisfying ending when they all went to wherever they went, but it was absolutely unecessary in terms of the island itself. This season made the island feel so insiginifact in the grand scheme of things, same with the Locke/Jacob story. The fact that it took a steep fall to k!ll smokie is honestly one of the most unsatisfying deaths in TV history, whether you argue that the removal of the rock gave the losties the ability to k!ll Smokie or not, they could have done MUCH MUCH more to k!ll him off, everything felt very rushed, unplanned and ultimately anticlimactic. 6 years of following a show like this just didnt feel worth it in my eyes. There are other great shows with amazing writing that will never be praised as much as Lost and that bugs me. The first 3 seasons are easily one of the best TV series' ive ever watched, but since season 4, i truly dont feel the same way. IMO, a show that started off so great and had so much promise simply did not meet the standards it set for itself and the fact that the show has so much ego bothers me even more, the writers fell off in the last few years, they had moments of creative brilliance and emotional depth that other shows on the air right now will never achieve, but had more moments of unecessary creative stupidity and that simply cannot be overlooked in my book. The series itself i think deserves a 9/10 from me, but most of that 9 comes from the addiction that i had to this show in its first 3 seasons. Id say from season 4 and on, this show was a 7/10. If you give me hell for this, whatever, its my opinion, im not misinformed, ive given the show praise as well as hate, this is just an honest opinion.

As i've previously stated all of those questions will have the show being talked about for decades (Which was their goal.). It is all up for interpretation and I f**king love that they did that. Answering every question would have been stupid. Did you want MIB/Jacob to look into the camera a few episodes back like "Yo, check it out. Heres exactly whats goin on, let me break it down for you." They pulled it off brilliantly, and because of that, 5 years from now if Boxdens still around I can make a post in this very section saying, "So about Lost......" and it will go 10 pages.

Dead on. This ep went to the roots and focused on character. I didn't even care to wonder who built all that s**t in the light tunnel, how they agreed to meet up, and al the other s**t that escapes my mind right now. I thought it ended on agreat note

I disagree entirely with you saying the k!lling of MIB/Flocke was anti-climatic. He became mortal when the island started falling apart. Kate shot him, Jack kicked him off the cliff the exact same way that Ben stabbed Jacob, and MIB kicked him into the fire. Tons of symbolism there imo.

And IMO season 5 was the best season. So your seasons 1-3>>>>>>>>>argument I disagree with. Especially since I consider season 3 the weakest.

You call it brilliance I call it a cop out...to each their own. And yeah to be honest if "across the sea" was just Jacob and MIB sitting around a campfire breaking down wtf the purpose of the island was I'd be one satisfied mother f**ker right now. Not to say I'm not now but more so.
