We all have our mixed opinions now on what the island was, is and what this ending was about. The island was real. Yes Jack died right then and there. And Ben, Hurley and the rest of the Losties that remained on the island, stayed there until they passed hence Ben and Hurley calling each other good #1ís and #2ís. And Kate, Sawyer and the Losties that left the island on the plane lived out their lives until they died (or) the plane didnít make it and they died in a crash. The alternate timeline was purgatory and the church was the pearly gates. When you die, time ceases to exist. Everyone in the alternate timeline died at some point. It does not matter when, because time is not a factor. Time is a concept made up by human beings. When you die, not only will you be in an afterlife with your ancestors, but also your children, your grandchildren, even your great-great-great-great-great grandchildren. As soon as you die time ceases to exist. This was the biggest event in each one of their lives and it meant so much to them so God wanted them to enter Heaven together as one.

Why did you post the same exact thing ReppinDaBurgh posted?

I've spent years speculating about the show...I have no problem taking time to analyze the finale. For those that didn't think the end was worth it...sorry.

I found the touching parts to be worth more than anything that wasn't perfectly explained.

I think when people go back to look things over in the coming days and weeks we will have more answers.

-Was Eloise Hawking the one true omniscient character? She knew what was happening to Farraday, that he was going to be awakened and was worried.

Edit-Kimmel talking about Walt, haha.

The alternate timeline was showing what they all wanted to do with their lives, if given the chance. Jack wanted to help Locke, Sawyer always wanted to find and bring to justice the one who k!lled his parents, so he was a cop. Juliet wanted to save the babies that died on the island, so it was appropriate that she did Sun's sonogram and delivered the news that the baby was perfect. It's kind of like a catharsis for all of them, you know? I think it enabled them to move on...

Pretty sure this is EXACTLY what I posted before you on the previous page.

f**kKKKK all the haters, that was one of the best series finales to one of the best series of all time. HANDS DOWN.

The alt-timeline was purgatory. The island was NOT purgatory. The original timeline is what ACTUALLY happened. The alt-timeline was everyone in purgatory. (I'm an athiest, I dont believe in this s**t, but I still dig the movies/tv shows about the concept.) When you die, time ceases to exist. Everyone in the alt timeline died at some point. Does not matter when, because time is not a factor. Time is a concept made up by human beings. When you die, not only will you be in an afterlife with your ancestors, but also your children, your grandchildren, even your great-great-great-great-great grandchildren. As soon as you die time ceases to exist. (In theory. I'm an athiest, as I said.).

Hugo and Ben ran the island for years, hence them calling eachother good #1 and #2. Lapidus and the gang survived, and eventually died on the mainland. Or maybe they crashed in the ocean, either way doesnt matter.

The only two questions I have are why did Ben not enter the church. Is he destined to go to hell? And why Richard was not in the church. Lapidus was not a major character so he had to reason to be in the church. But Richard definetly should have been there.

f**king GOATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT.

THIS is what happened, folks.

I find it incredible how they managed to pull off an emotional character-driven finale that basically made all unanswered mythological questions seem a bit ridiculous in hindsight. If there ever was a satisfying cop-out, this was one.

Farewell Lost and this thread. It was a fun ride and satisfying ending. It is said our emotions outlast our memory. Years from now, when I no longer can remember all the connections, details, and unanswered questions, I will not forget the journey.

1. What is the island?

2. Who were the first habitants of the island (i.e. MIB/Jacob's guardian)

3. Who built the statue?

4. Why did the light turn MIB into a smoke monster?

etc. etc. etc.

More I think about that finale, the more pissed I get. Classic case of painting yourself into a corner and having a cop out excuse that doesn't tie up important loose ends. Which really pisses me off, because some of the greatest moments in TV history were LOST moments.

Ok, I just realized you took all of my anti-religion parts out and did not include them, so you agreed with my idea, and disagreed with me being an athiest. I can respect that. But at least throw a "f**k you, Reppin." in there so everyone knows you took my idea and made it your own.
