Is Dr. Dre the most overrated producer alive ?

cmon man, all his major hits were co-produced by someone...to be honest, I don't even know a song which was completely produced by Dre ...

Mel-Man, Mike Elizondo, Dawaun Parker, DJ Khalil, Mark Batson, Scott Storch and the list of ghostproducers goes on ...image

Known fact, Dre cannot play keyboard.

Known fact, Detox will never be released.

Known fact, f**kwits compare Dre to be in the top 10 producers of all time, despite him not being that crash hot.

In a way, he maybe overrated but he's still a great producer nonetheless. Dre's early work can be credited to the soul and funky sound of P-Funk and almost everything surrounding George Clinton's work. Dre renamed that sound G-Funk but even that's controversial because others claim Dre even stole that idea for sound from someone else and often took credit for beats he didn't make.

I still give Dre props. He maybe overrated but he's still great. Just cause you're overrated doesn't mean you still can't be great.

i even take Jd and swizz beats over him. its funny how people who have left Dre shadows have become very successful in their crafts.
Swizz Beats? Are you serious? If you were offered a beat from Dre or Swizz, you'd take Swizz Beats noise called beats over Dre. You've got to be out of your mind if you're serious.

actually he needs to rhyme that backwards because he got it twisted. the guy doesnt write his own rhymes. whats so great about him other than the westcoast boom in the early 90s.
oh i dont know...maybe the fact that he produced snoop dogg, eminem, and 50 cents first major albums and blew up all three of their careers...creating 3 of the most revenue generating rappers to date

stupid f**k

key world revenue generating rappers to date? and thats where it ends. go pick up 50 album and eminem album and see if the beats still wow you as it did before. the only person you can make such a claim is snoop dogg because that was due to the westcoast boom. you actually think the white audience go to buy eminem cd because dre produced it? you are a stupid f**k
f**kin moron...is this about whos the hottest producer at the moment?

no..read the thread title again

his legacy that hes already created will live on further than anyone thats 'hot' right now...saying hes not making anything at the moment is like taking credit away from michael jordan cuz hes not playing anymore

i feel like im replying to a f**kin special ed kid..tell me if i am so im not wasting my time.

name one producer who took a rapper, created a full debut album for them that went MULTI PLATINUM and blew up a career....dre did it 4 times

and u must not know anything about producing if u think there should be any credit taken away because of a coproduction...producing isnt just about instrumentation its about going through with n nailing an idea or vision...scott storchs jew punk a.ss didnt know playin that chord for "still dre" would become a national anthem...Mike E didnt kno his stabs on in da club could end up being the best club song of the 2000's..the songs needed dres vision..direction..arrangement, etc.

Why do people knock Dr Dre whenever they can? The guy is a legend of hip hop and that's the truth. There was a time, when asked, Who do you want to work with? 95% of rappers would say Dre. Why hate on him? His track record speaks for itself.

Now i must add that i think he has fallen off in recent years the last hot track i heard from him was one that didn't make Games 2nd album called 'My b**ch'.

Easy to attack people that are considered greats coz we all like to see them fall. Build them up and shoot them down

he earned his respect but lets give other people around him the same amount of respect hence the strong argument that he is overated as a producer and a rapper. by your twisted logic we can make a strong argument on why puff daddy is the greatest producer.
Puffy is not the greatest but deserves to be in the top ten.
