Gangs of NY? Really? I liked it and all, but it's easily Scorsese's worst movie of the decade.
Yeah, Gangs of New York is really not even that great of a film... in fact, it's proof that Scorsese isn't bulletproof.

Agreed...

Daniel Day Lewis is incredible in it(as always), but it fails on a lot of levels, which hurts my heart to say because I know how much making it meant to Marty... But the finished product just didn't turn out that great.

And this may be Dicaprio's worst performance in my opinion... Just didn't buy it at all, on any level...

Leo redeemed himself with "The Departed" though.

Yeah like City of gGd isnt overrated?? Like snatch isnt overrated and not even better then Lock stock.

However i agree on Pans Labyrinth Gans of Ny and specially Lost in Traslation. Amazing films
Explain City of God being overrated? It is as good a gangster film as Goodfellas or Pulp Fiction yet recieves half the attention (due to its foreign nature), Snatch is an original film hard to find this decade with a great script again hard to find, Lock Stock is overrated nonsense.

Leo was never a good actor. Hard to criticize the mans film based on Leo's level of acting.

The only movies on that list that I saw were Mystic River and The Departed lol

From the movies I've seen, mine would be

Dark Knight
25th Hour
The Life of David Gale
Fracture
Slumdog Millionaire
40 Yr Old Virgin
Inside Man
The Departed
Catch Me If You Can
Man On Fire
Yeah, I really liked that movie too

I haven't seen alot of movies, but Snatch is always at the top of my list

The Aviator
The Aviator was better than Gangs of NY in my opinion. It was more focused and had great performances by Leo and Cate Blanchett. The only great thing in GONY was DDL. I've watched The Aviator numerous times, but have only been able to sit through the entirety of GONY twice.

Dicaprio was great in both "The Departed" and "The Aviator".

He was actually pretty good in "Revolutionary Road" as well...

And Catch Me if You Can, Blood Diamond, and Body of Lies. He's become one of the best under 40 actors out there since he started working with Scorsese.

I would put his performance on the same level all 3 films, Scorsese elevates him but he is not a good actor, that is my opinion.

Horrible list

No City Of God (should be first, best movie since Pulp Fiction period)
Requiem For A Dream
The Pianist
Pans Labyrinth (I guess foreign movies don't count by this point)
Snatch
Gangs Of NY
Lost In Translation

I mean the decade has been dry but LOTR, Muholland, and Incrdibles sucked.

No Country, Children of Men, and There Will Be Blood are highly overrated "oscar" films.
For real? Snatch is basically the same exact movie as "Lock, Stock, & Two Smoking Barrels". While I love it, it is HARDLY the best at anything.

The Pianist is such a great movie. It's probably 11th or 12th in my list.

And, no. There Will Be Blood is not overrated. Explain what exactly is so overrated about that movie.

And, I know you're a huge Scorsese fan and all, but Gangs Of New York is easily his weakest film. There's just nothing to it... at all.

My personal favorites, in no particular order:

- There Will Be Blood
- Gladiator
- Gangs of New York (Some may not like this movie as much, but visually there aren't many better movies)
- Road To Perdition
- Cast Away
- Shaun of the Dead (I can watch this movie a million times over)
- Apocalypto
- The Wrestler
- Ali
- V for Vendetta

1. There Will Be Blood - tried watching it couldnt stand it boring and uninteresting for me.
2. Children of Men - Ive seen mabe 5 mins. Want to really watch it but havent.
3. Mulholland Drive - Never saw it
4. A History of Violence - It was ok
5. No Country for Old Men - I liked this movie for the most part but the ending does suck. Its a chase movie were no one really cathes the other person
.6. The Incredibles - Pretty entertaining animated flick. One of the few I can stand to watch.
7. Brokeback Mountain - Never saw it
8. The Departed - Good movie . Spectacular cast of stars.
9. Mystic River - I have seen it but hardly remember it
10. The Lord of the Rings Trilogy - Eh, its a ok adventure story but not really anything I cared for.

For me a good movie is something I can watch over and over and enjoy it. The only movie on this list that I have seen multiple times is No Country For Old Men.
