We always complain about how few good movies there are out, but when you think about it, there were many great films this decade.

I'd have in no particular order:

There Will Be Blood
Almost Famous
Mystic River
The Departed
City of God
The Royal Tennenbaums
Memento
Kill Bill
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
The Dark Knight

Damn it's hard to whittle it down to just 10.

Ahhhhh f**k!!!!

I totally forgot that "Almost Famous" and "Snatch" came out in 2000...

Revised list would go:

#1. "Memento"
#2. "Zodiac"
#3. "The Dark Knight"
#4. "There Will Be Blood"
#5. "The Lord Of the Rings Trilogy"
#6. "Sideways"
#7. "The Departed"
#8. "Children of Men"
#9. "Half Nelson"
#10. "Almost Famous"

The Top 20 would be rounded out with stuff like "Snatch", "Casino Royale", "No Country For Old Men", "Batman Begins", "Gladiator", "Kill Bill", "Traffic", "Wall-E", "Garden State", "Collateral", "Hero", "Million Dollar Baby"...

People need to stop the Inglourious Bastards hype, it doesnt deserve to be in any top ten list, except QT's top 10 films, where it goes as close to 10 as possible, that movie pales to compare to any good movie made this past decade. k!ll Bill, Batman(s), and LOTR's are all also movies which only work because of action, they really have no substance.
As for people not understanding the end of No Country... watch it again, and again, until you get it. Its perfect.

I've never seen Zodiac or 25th hour, several people I talked to said Zodiac wasn't good at all but a couple said it was good so I'll have to see for myself.

Yeah I would say see it for yourself, but I'm one of those people that thinks it's overrated.

A History of Violence is a great movie. You guys are trippin... Here's my list, even though I still need to see Up in the Air and Invicitus or whatever.

1. The Departed
2. No Country For Old Men
3. Mystic River
4. The Dark Knight
5. Ocean's 11
6. Inglorious Basterds
7. There Will Be Blood
8. Catch Me If You Can
9. Collateral
10. Zodiac

I agree with most of that except for Oceans 11 and Mystic River. For me I would replace them with Memento and City of God.

Damn there are too many good a.ss movies that could replace some of these movies in the top 10, 2000s was a great film decade imo.

Honorable mentions to:

The Prestige
Gladiator
Batman Begins
Casino Royale
Munich
310 to Yuma
Kill Bill vol 1-2
Eastern Promises
Equilibrium
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Gangs of New York
Superbad
The Good Shepherd
Inside Man
Old Boy
Hero

1. There Will Be Blood
2. Children of Men
3. Mulholland Drive
4. A History of Violence
5. No Country for Old Men
6. The Incredibles
7. Brokeback Mountain
8. The Departed
9. Mystic River
10. The Lord of the Rings Trilogy

Decent list by Peter Travers, although the only movies I think that really belong in the top 10 are There Will Be Blood, The Departed, Mystic River, LOTR, and maybe No Country for Old Men. The rest are all good movies too, but probably wouldn't be in my top 10. City of God and k!ll Bill are missing.
Horrible list

No City Of God (should be first, best movie since Pulp Fiction period)
Requiem For A Dream
The Pianist
Pans Labyrinth (I guess foreign movies don't count by this point)
Snatch
Gangs Of NY
Lost In Translation

I mean the decade has been dry but LOTR, Muholland, and Incrdibles sucked.

No Country, Children of Men, and There Will Be Blood are highly overrated "oscar" films.

I would have to disagree, the fact that Batman or LOTR makes many lists shows Hollywood is declining.

Agreed, people here have no respect for a City of God or Pianist only action crap.

Gangs of NY? Really? I liked it and all, but it's easily Scorsese's worst movie of the decade.
