All sneak thieves and playa haters can shine
But until then I keep the trillion cut diamonds shinin brilliant

i think jay-z rhyme schemes are better his s**t be abcdefegghiijklmmmn and his mutlis are better jay be having 5 syllable words in his mutlis. and his wordplay better i mean way better then em s**t em rhyme schemes be simple and his worldplay be bulls**t. and most of the s**t don't even be making sense and don't be having his facts correct. and jay has a range of diffrent flows he can rap fast and all that s**t and having amazing breath control he has good timing. and he has better albums to me.

I have all of Jay-Z "classics" (Reasonable Doubt, Blueprint 1 & Black Album) in addition to Blueprint 3... I used to own the Hardknock Life album and I listened to some of Kingdom Come & AG and wasn't impressed so I never bothered buying them or downloading them.

I haven't heard Stay Wide Awake or even the Relapse album but I'm well aware of Eminem's prowess as a lyricist. I own all of his albums except for Relapse, including Infinite.

I know this is not part of the discussion, but let me just clear this up before I go any further. Jay-Z has released about 12 albums, Eminem has only released 5 yet he has sold more. Alot of people put Jay-Z over Eminem due to "longevity", but Jay has only been around 3 years longer than Eminem. Slim already has 10 years in the game and is still a successful platinum selling rap artist, that is longevity. We can argue they've both been around just as long since they both released obscure albums in 1996, although Jay's was a bit more high-profile.

And I'd have to agree it's not all about technical skills, I constantly defend Pac from people who think that's the case because he has "simple rhymes". But it has to be said, as technical rappers, Eminem is way ahead of Jay-Z and it isn't even a debate anymore. He's also way ahead of Pac and probably any other rapper aside from Rakim. Musically though, I'd rank Em a few notches below 2pac and I'm sure that's exactly how you feel about Jay-Z.

But to say Eminem has almost no substance in his music aside from two songs is absurd. It's about as absurd as me saying Jay-Z has zero substance.

1.) Sing For The Moment
2.) 8 Mile
3.) Lose Yourself
4.) If I Had A Million Dollars
5.) Stan
6.) The Way I Am
7.) White America
8.) Cleanin Out My Closet (Don't remember Jay ever getting this personal)
9.) Soldier
10.) Say Goodbye To Hollywood (Jay has yet to top this)
11.) Hailie's Song
12.) Mockingbird (Just plain good music)
13.) Mosh
14.) Like Toy Soldiers
15.) Yellow Brick Road

Yeah, Jay-Z is good but out of about 12 albums, you can probably round up as many "deep songs" as I've listed here, which Eminem compiled in 4 albums including the 8 Mile soundtrack. And don't front as though Jay-Z has accumulated a tremendous amount of songs that "you really feel". One of the only rappers that can really be said about is 2pac. I can probably compile a quadruple disc album of 2pac's introspective, positive music. You and I both know that aside from Reasonable Doubt, Jay-Z is mainly another Biggie who for the most part raps about bulls**t with a few nice gems thrown in. Don't even try to make him into something he isn't, which is what you've been trying to do.
I never once implied that Eminem doesn't make deep songs. He probably makes more deep songs than Jay. What I was TRYING to say is that no matter how many deep songs Eminem does, it still doesn't match the caliber and depth behind many of Jay's. That's why you never heard a "Proof" song by Em after dude died, cuz he said he couldn't write a song that would be considered the perfect tribute. As opposed to Jay, who has expressed himself on this topic very, very well (in my opinion).

And why in hell are you comparing number of albums and sales? That has nothing to do with the art. So what Eminem sold a billion albums more than Jay-Z? I can easily say that Jay-Z has been consistent with his music so he is the better rapper, but I'm not. I'm not looking at ANYTHING besides the rapper's worth as an artist.

They are both true artists. I never said Eminem is wack, mediocre, overrated, or anything like that. Dude deserves what he has, and has tons of substance. I actually used to like Eminem more than Jay-Z, and I have probably listened to more Eminem songs than Jay-Z songs.

If you read my original post again, I say that I've never heard a "deep" Eminem song that made me go "holy s**t that's deep". There is hardly any food for thought in his songs. Not that there is anything wrong with that. Eminem has constantly said that he wants his music to just be an escape, and NOT on some introspective conscious s**t. Jay-Z has constantly proven himself to say things in his rhymes that once it sets in your head, you're like "wow, that is f**king BRILLIANT!" With EMinem, you can say the same, but only with his flow/wordplay. He shines here and there with some ill lyrics (end of "I'm Back" was exceptional), but for the most part he has never made me s**t my pants the way Jay has. I also want to add. This has nothing to do with who you can relate to. I relate to Eminem more than Jay.

Okay, HOW ABOUT THIS? Maybe this should settle it, just so you guys defending Eminem can see where I'm coming from.

Post what you consider one of Eminem's best verses, and I'll match it with what I consider one of Jay's best verses, and we can compare the two.

ALSO, to say Jay has just made a "few" gems per album after RD is preposterous. He has his share of fillers because he constantly put out s**tloads of music throughout his whole career. If Eminem did the same thing, we probably wouldn't even be having this discussion right now.

eh.... that's all i got for now.

Also, this rhyme scheme/flow argument is also bulls**t. Jay's style is vastly different from Eminem's, and both have their own appeal that's more or less equal to another. Eminem rhymes a million words a minute. Jay teases you with the rhymes (much like Nas does). Both are sick styles, and can't be compared with each other, and it sure as hell does not make a rapper.

With this train of thought, you are saying that Relapse is better than It was Written because Eminem rhymes the way he does. AGAIN, you guys are comparing technical skills and NOT actual substance.

Substance overrides anything else. Look up "Binary Star" They're an underground group. If you like Em's flow, you'll like these guys. But they flopped, you know why? All of the illest words put together in rhyme form won't save you from wack a.ss lyrics.

There's several different levels to Devil worshippin: horse's heads,
Human sacrifices, canibalism; candles and exorcism
Animals havin s3x with 'em; camels mammals and rabbits
But I don't get into that, I kick the habit - I just,
Beat you to death with weapons that eat through the flesh
And I never eat you unless the f**kin, meat looks fresh
I got a lion in my pocket, I'm lyin, I got a nine in my pocket
And baby I'm just, dyin to c*ck him
He's ready for war, I'm ready for war
I got machetes and swords for any f**got that said he was raw
My uz' as, heavy as yours, yeah you met me before
I just didn't have as large an arsenal of weapons before
Marshall will step in the door, I lay your head on the floor
With your body spread on the bedspread, red on the wall
Red on the ceilin, red on the floor, get a new wh0ore
Met on the second, wet on the third;
Then she's dead on the fourth - I'm dead wrong

My words are like a dagger with a jagged edge
That'll stab you in the head
Whether you're a f*g or lez
Or the homos3x, hermaph or a trans-a-ves
Pants or dress - hate f*gs? The answer's "yes"
Homophobic? Nah, you're just heterophobic
Starin’ at my jeans, watchin' my genitals bulgin'
That's my motherf**kin’ balls, you'd better let go of em
They belong in my scrotum; you'll never get hold of em
Hey, it's me, Versace
Whoops, somebody shot me!
And I was just checkin' the mail
Get it? Checkin’ the 'male'?
How many records you expectin' to sell
After your second LP sends you directly to jail?
C'mon! Relax guy, I like gay men
Right, Ken? Give me an amen
Please Lord, this boy needs Jesus
Heal this child, help us destroy these demons
Oh, and please send me a brand new car
And a prostitute while my wife's sick in the hospital
Preacher preacher, fifth grade teacher
You can't reach me, my mom can't neither
You can't teach me a goddamn thing cause
I watch TV, and Comcast cable
And you ain't able to stop these thoughts
You can't stop me from toppin' these charts
And you can't stop me from droppin' each March
With a brand new cd for these f**kin’ retards
Duhhh, and to think, it's just little old me
Mr. "Don't Give A f**k," still won't leave

I sold it all from crack to o-pium, in third person
I don't wanna see em, so I'm rehearsin
with my peoples high to GM, from a remote lo-cation
in the BM, scopin the whole situation like, "Dayamm!"
Metamorphic, as the dope turns to cre-am
but one of these buyers got eyes like a Korean
It's difficult to read em, the windows to his soul
are half closed, I put the key in
Pulled off slow, hopin my people flee-in
zzzzz tried to knock the only link that tied me in
Coppers was watchin us through nighttime binoculars
This time they got us on tape, exchangin dope for dollars
Make me wanna, holler back at the crib in the sauna
Prayin my people bailed out like Time/Warner
Awaitin call, from his kin not the coroner
Phone in my hand, nervous confined to a corner
Beads of sweat second thoughts on my mind
How can I ease the stress and learn to live with these regrets

As sure as this, Earth is turning souls burning
in search of higher learning turning in every direction seeking direction
My moms cryin cause her insides are dyin
her son tryin her patience, keep her heart racin
A million beats a minute, I know I push you to your limit
but it's this game love, I'm caught up all in it
They make it so you can't prevent it, never give it
you gotta take it, can't fake it I keep it authentic
My hand got this pistol shakin, cause I sense danger
like Camp Crystal Lake and
don't wanna shoot him, but I got him, trapped
within this infrared dot, bout to hot him and, hit rock bottom
No answers to these trick questions, no time s**t stressin
My life found I got ta live for the right now
Time waits for no man, can't turn back the hands
once it's too late, gotta learn to live with regrets

I found myself reminiscin, remember this one
when he was here he was crazy nice with his son
I miss him, long as I'm livin he's livin through memories
He's there to k!ll all my suicidal tendencies
In heaven lookin over me, or in hell, keepin it cozy
I'm comin life on these streets ain't what it's supposed to be
Remember Newton, mutual friend well me and him feudin
On your life I tried to talk to him
But you know n*ggaz, think they guns can stop foe n*ggaz
Frontin like they're, Big Willie but really O n*ggaz
Hoe n*ggaz, this year I'm sho' n*ggaz think I'm slippin
I'm bout to send you a roommate, no bulls**ttin
for my hustle's goin too well to hit him
You was right n*ggaz want you to be miserable wit em
Anyway, I ain't tryin to hear it, I think I'm touched
this whole verse I been talkin to your spirit, a little too much

Let's take a trip down memory, lane at the cemetary
Rain grey skies, seems at the end of every
young black life is this line, "Damn - him already?
Such a good kid," got us pourin Henn' already
Liquor to the curb for my, n*ggaz up above
When it, cracks through the pavement that's my way of sendin love
So, give Big a hug, tell Aa-liyah I said hi
'Til the next time I see her, on the other side
He was just some thug that, caught some slugs
And we loved him cause, in him we, saw some of us
He walked like ussss, talked like ussss
His back against the wall, n*gga fought like us - damn
Poor Isis, that's his momma name
Momma ain't strong enough to raise no boy, what's his father name?
Shorty never knew him, though he had his blood in him
Hot temper, momma said he act just like her husband
Daddy never f**ked with him, so the streets raised him
Isis blamin herself, she wish she coulda saved him
Damn near impossible, only men can raise men
He was his own man, not even him can save him
He put his faith in a, thirty-eight in his waist
But when you live by the gun you die by the same fate
End up, dead before thirty-eight and umm
That's the life of us raised by winter, it's a cold world
Old girl turned to coke, tried to smoke her pain away
Isis, life just, ended on that rainy day
When she got the news her boy body could be viewed
down at the City Morgue, opened the drawer, saw him nud3
Her addiction grew, prescription drugs, shift and brew
Angel dust, dipped in WOO!
She slipped into, her own fantasy world
Had herself pregnant by a different dude
But reality bites and, this is her life
He wasn't really her husband, though he called her wife
It was just this night when, moon was full
And the stars were just right, and the dress was real tight
Had her soundin like Lisa Lisa - I wonder if I take you home
will you still love me after this night?
Mike was the hardhead from the around the way
that she wanted all her life, s**t she wanted all the hype
Used to hold on tight when he wheelied on the bike
He was a Willie all her life he wasn't really the one to like
It was a, dude named Shy who would really treat her right
He wanted to run to the country to escape the city life
But I-sis, liked this, Broadway life
She loved the Gucci sneakers, the red green and whites
Hangin out the window when she first seen him f!ght
She was so turned on that she had to shower twice
How ironic it would, be some f!ght that
turned into a homicide that'll alter their life
See Mike at thirty-two was still on the scene
Had a son fifteen that he never saw twice
Sure he saw him as an infant, but he dissed on him like
"If that was my son, he would look much different.
See I'm light-skinnded and that baby there's dark
so it's, momma's baby; poppa's maybe."
Mike was still crazy out there runnin the streets (f**k n*ggaz want?)
Had his old reliable thirty-eight gun in his reach
It's been fourteen years, him and Isis ain't speak
He runnin around like life's a peach, 'til one day
he approached this thug that, had a mean mug
And it looked so familiar that he called him "Young Cuz"
Told him, get off the strip but the boy ain't budge (f**k you)
Instead he pulled out a newer thirty-eight snub
He clearly had the drop but the boy just paused (hold up)
There was somethin in this man's face he knew he seen before
It's like, lookin in the mirror seein hisself more mature
And he took it as a sign from the almighty Lord
You know what they say about he who hesitates in war
(What's that?) He who hesitates is lost
He can't explain what he saw before his picture went blank
The old man didn't think he just followed his instinct
Six shots into his kid, out of the gun
n*ggaz be a father, you're k!llin your son
Six shots into his kid, out of the gun
n*ggaz be a father, you k!llin your sons

Meet the parents..
Not necessarily his best or anything, but these two were all I could think of off the top. NOTICE HOW JAY'S VERSES ARE SO MUCH FR3ESHER AND THE THINGS HE ARE SAYING IN THESE SONGS s**t on anything Eminem has said. AND I can pick a hundred other verses of this caliber.

Eminem? Notice how the lyrics snoopdoggiz posted are just on some cartoon s**t. Seriously, at the end of the day it's all made up. Every single line. Not to mention, besides picturing Eminem himself doing all that s**t that he talks about, is there anything else in those verses? Any poetic images? Symbolism? Depth? Even Eminem's deepest song is all about nobody but himself. Eminem is just an upfront rapper. That's what he's been all about. Keeping it simple so that basically anyone can enjoy his verses on face value by first or second listen. But after you're done consuming his verses, you're not getting anything out of it that you didn't get on the first listen.

Jay-Z? A completely different story.

Now, you can always point to a song like "Big Pimpin" or something and say that Jay-Z has his share of the mainstream s**t but it's bulls**t, because you know that party songs is a big part of hiphop.

Since I'm bored, i'll give another example.

Cleanin out my closet: Can we safely say that this is one of the deepest songs by Eminem? He lays it out for you, doesn't he? But how much of it do you actually believe?

U must love me: Do you think Jay-Z is lying in any of the verses in this song? Maybe he is, but you sure as hell believe him unless you do some serious investigation.

Alright AllAbout$, I'll post some of my favorite Eminem verses...

Here are the 2nd and 3rd verses from Say Goodbye To Hollywood (Probably my faovirte Rminem song...

Bury my face in comic books, cause I don't want to look
At nothin', this world's too much
I've swallowed all I could
If I could swallow a bottle of tylenol I would, and end it for good
Just say goodbye to Hollywood
I probably should, these problems are piling all at once
Cause everything that bothers me, I got it bottled up
I think i'm bottomin' out
But i'm not about to give up, I gotta get up
Thank God, I got a little girl
And I'm a responsible father
So not a lot of good, i'd be to my daughter layin' in the bottom of the mud
Must be in my blood cause I don't know how I do it
All I know is I don't want to follow in the footsteps of my dad
Cause I hate him so bad
The worst fear that I had was growin' up to be like his f**kin' a.ss, man
If you could understand why I am the way that I am
What do I say to my fans, when I tell 'em i'm...

I don't wanna quit, but s**t, I feel like this is it
For me to have this much appeal like this is sick
This is not a game, this fame, in real life this is sick
Publicity stunt my a.ss, conceal my f**kin' d*ck
f**k the guns, i'm done, i'll never look at gats
If I scrap, i'll scrap like I ain't never whooped some a.ss
I love my fans
But no one ever puts a grasp on the fact i've sacrificed everything I have
I never dreamt i'd get to the level that i'm at, this is whack
This is more than I ever could of asked
everywhere I go, a hat, a sweater hood, or mask
What about math, how come I wasn't ever good at that
It's like the boy in the bubble, who never could adapt, i'm trapped
If I could go back, I never woulda rapped
I sold my soul to the devil, i'll never get it back
I just wanna leave this game with level head intact
Imagine goin' from bein' a no one to seein',
everything blow up and all you did was just grow
up emceeing
It's f**kin' crazy
Cause all I wanted was to give Hailie the life I never had
But instead I forced us to live alienated, so i'm sayin'...

[Verse 1]
These ideas are nightmares to white parents
Whose worst fear is a child with dyed hair and who likes earrings
Like whatever they say has no bearing, it's so scary in a house that allows
no swearing
To see him walking around with his headphones blaring
Alone in his own zone, cold and he don't care
He's a problem child
And what bothers him all comes out, when he talks about
His f**kin' dad walkin' out
Cause he just hates him so bad that he blocks him out
If he ever saw him again he'd probably knock him out
His thoughts are whacked, he's mad so he's talkin' back
Talkin' black, brainwashed from rock and rap
He sags his pants, do-rags and a stocking cap
His step-father hit him, so he socked him back, and broke his nose
His house is a broken home, there's no control, he just let's his emotions
go...
Now I would never diss my own mama just to get recognition, take a second to listen who you
think this record is dissin', but put yourself in my position, just try to envision witnessin'
your Mama poppin' prescription pills in the kitchen, b**chin' that someone's always goin'
through her purse and s**ts missin', going through public housing systems, victim of
Munchausen's syndrome, my whole life I was made to believe I was sick when I wasn't 'til I grew
up, now I blew up, it makes you sick to ya' stomach, doesn't it, wasn't it the reason you made
that Cd for me, ma, so you could try to justify the way you treated me, ma, but guess what, your
gettin' older now and it's cold when your lonely, and Nathan's growing up so quick, he's gonna
know that your phoney, and Hailie's getting so big now, you should see her, she's beautiful, but
you'll never see her, she won't even be at your funeral, see what hurts me the most is you won't
admit you was wrong, b**ch, do your song, keep tellin' yourself that you was a mom, but how dare
you try to take what you didn't help me to get, you selfish b**ch, I hope you f**kin' burn in
hell for this s**t, remember when Ronnie died and you said you wished it was me, well guess
what, I am dead, dead to you as can be...

This vote is only showing how many Camelface and stan c*cksuckers are lingering around... and therefore I would rather give out my opinion and written pick instead of my vote. I only vote for good music and not the artist. But the thread and opinion must go on.

This Eminem stans think that Em is actually a lyrical Genius and that everything that he drops is the best s**t in the existence of mankind. But let's face facts... his only had 1 classic and 1 great album. Everything else??? Average, mediocre and ok. I know all of his stans will disagree with this opinion along with white people... but the only reason Em gets so much buzz and hype, is because he is the Elvis Pressley of the game or better yet the white boy that can actually do it and he is white which means they'll relate to him more. Is a fact and there is nothing wrong with that. Is like thinking that black people will relate more to Larry Bird than Michael Jordan... it won't happen.

If a black rapper was rapping the same way as Em... would he have the same impact in the game and longevity??? We all know the answer to that.

Jay Z at least got 2 classic albums (Reasonable Doubt and Blueprint). Anything else was great, 2 duds and a couple of ok albums.

Even if you compare the singles... Jay-Z still has Em beat.

If it came to a lyrical battle?

Em will win. When it comes to battling or freestyling... I would say that Em is really top 5 (even top 3).

But after all of the other facts come into play...

Jay-Z wins.
