Better lineup than '09, better rotation than '09, and a better bullpen than '09.
Sox got defense but so do we.

Scott Miller of CBSSports.com reports that the Braves have signed free agent utility man Eric Hinske.
The new deal is pending a physical. According to Miller, the terms of the new contract are not yet known. Hinske, 32, batted .242/.348/.432 with eight home runs and 32 RBI in 190 at-bats between the Pirates and Yankees last season. He's a useful lefty bat that can play the corner outfield positions and even first and third base.
The Twins have made an offer to free agent left-hander Jarrod Washburn, reports Scott Miller of CBSSports.com.
The Twins have already secured Carl Pavano, but they'd like to add another arm in preparation for their new open-air stadium. Washburn, 35, was 9-9 with a 3.78 ERA in 28 starts last season, but really struggled down the stretch, tallying a 7.33 ERA in eight starts after being traded to the Tigers in July. With a 4.10 career ERA in 12 career seasons, he's no ace, but the veteran left-hander would fit nicely in the back-end of the Minnesota rotation.

According to Buster Olney of ESPN.com, free agent first baseman Adam LaRoche turned down a two-year, $17 million contract from the Giants.
He'll probably never see that kind of money again this offseason, as according to Olney, the offer might be off the table now. LaRoche lost one potential suitor with the Mariners picking up Casey Kotchman, so LaRoche will likely have to choose between the Orioles and Giants. The Giants are believed to be discussing alternatives, and rightfully so.
According to John C. Rodriguez of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, the Marlins are "still in the game" for Cuban left-hander Aroldis Chapman and are believed to have increased their $13 million offer.
According to Rodriguez, Chapman told one a.ssociate that he plans to come to terms with a team in the "next three or four days." The Marlins won't offer the 21-year-old fireballer the richest deal, but they hope South Florida can be enough of a drawing card. Still, it's unlikely, as an unnamed source told Rodriguez he is expected to sign with either the Angels or Blue Jays for around $21 million.

its debatable that the Sox are also better than last year in every aspect minus that f*g Bay, but we now have Victor for a full season, and Beltre and Cameron arent exactly s**t, but not all stars either. and we've had a nasty bullpen, so its gonna stay nice, hopefully nicer if we can sign Chapman

Every aspect would have to include offense, doesn't matter how you feel about Bay he still puts up more RBI's and HR's than anyone else on this team.

On paper, especially if Delgado signs and Bengie Molina, they have a more balanced lineup than the Sox. Too bad they have no SP's.

I guess he is our insurance 5th starter. Won't need a 5th starter until May but I'm still interested in seeing if it will be Hughes or Joba in that role next year or if they will both be in the pen. I actually like Mitre, I think he would perform decent this year if given the chance to start again. I thought they would re-sign Gaudin too.
