They don't have the money to spend on Holliday this year unless his price comes way down or they trade away Swisher. Our lineup doesn't need another slugger. Crawford could hit 20+ HR's at NYS which wouldn't be far off from Holliday who's probably peaked already(2007 stats).

Carlos Zambrano is not interested in waiving his no-trade clause to go to the Yankees, according to his agent, Barry Praver.
Big Z is owed $53.75 million over the next three years. With a full no-trade clause, there's a decent chance he will stay in the Windy City through the duration of the pact. The Yankees will likely turn their attention to free agency, where starters such as Joel Pineiro and Ben Sheets could be of interest.
Thank god :dancingcool: Don't want that overrated headcase in the Bronx.

According to an MASNsports.com report, the Nationals have signed free agent starter Jason Marquis.
The terms of the deal have not yet been released, but Marquis was seeking a multi-year contract. He went 15-13 with a 4.04 ERA and 1.38 WHIP in 2009 for the Rockies. Marquis will front a revamped Nationals rotation in 2010; no doubt also expected to shepherd the club's talented flock of young starters.

Oh yeah, referring to keith, carl isn't better than matt holliday, just because carl can bunt and steal bases doesn't make him better. U can make an arguement based matt year performance in the AL or matt career in colorado, but lets be real, playin @ tropicana isn't fair with all that damn space and speed carl has.

Seeing carl 19 times doesn't prove anything, pitchers are more scared of holliday than carl. Look @ their f**kin stats, matt is a better hitter.
This is why no one values your opinion, because you don't know what the f**k you're talking about. Pitching in the AL East > pitching in the NL West. Pitching in the AL East > Pitching in the AL West. Carl Crawford his whole career has faced the toughest division in baseball and has still succeeded. He's a better fielder, younger, faster and just as much as a hitting threat as Holliday. If you don't think so than maybe you should stop watching baseball. Lol @ the Red Sox and Patriots sucking. You're an idiot.

I'd go with the proven AL East player. Holliday was just a product of Coor's. His numbers every where else do not scream FRANCHISE PLAYER. Thus, the reason you don't give him FRANCHISE MONEY. Crawford will come much cheaper next year.

Just laughing that a team that's going no where would waste funds on Marquis and Pudge Rodriguez. Mets are a whole nother other mess. Bay doesn't even wanna play for them lol.

Matt Holliday is a better power hitter if he stays in the NL vs garbage pitchers. Crawford is a solid hitter verse some of the best in the league and has been his whole career. If you haven't noticed not one person has agreed with you.

Easy to say that now since Halladay is gone. Look up Lince's stats in interleague play minus the Oakland A's. They are less than stellar even though he hasn't pitched against the Sox/Yankees/Rays/Orioles.

CC Sabathia<Danny Haren
Josh Beckett<Brandon Webb
AJ Burnett<Chad Billingsley
Jon Lester<Jake Peavy (I gave u halladay, gotta give me peavy)
Andy Petitte<Matt Cain
Joba Chamberlin=Ubaldo Jiminez
Mariano Rivera (not a starter)
Papelbon (not a starter)

All on the regular.
So yeah, I don't think the NL West of all areas are that bad, with that garbage pitching right?. But career wise, crawford is .295, holliday is .318 avg wise, obp, slugging and ops all points to holliday...not to mention holliday was a nlcs mvp and have silver slugger awards.

Call me an idiot, whatever, but numbers don't lie. Holliday numbers are better than Crawfords.

His career numbers are skewed for the time spent in Colorado.

Holliday stats on the road

.284 BA (70 pts lower than home)
.353 OBP (70 pts lower than home)
.808 OPS (almost 200 pts. lower than home)

Blowing the bank on this guy = There's a reason why he's not signed and all the GM's know it. Red Sox made a fair market value offer to him. Boras has no leverage. the Yankees will NOT get involved which means this guy is going to end up being this year's Adam Dunn if the Cards dont bring him back.

Nah, he'll still get paid. And I still wouldn't be surprised one bit if the Yankees at least keep tabs on him for the duration of his Free Agency...if they can get a reasonable deal, I could see Cash pouncing.

I'm sure he would much rather wait it out for Crawford next off-season, as he would be a much better fit for not only the lineup, but the stadium itself..both offensively and defensively.

Keep up the good work Cash...lawd knows I remember most of these fair weather fans calling for heads around these necks!

If they can somehow sell high on Nick Swisher before he regresses i'd be all for getting Holliday for LF and sticking Melky in RF.

The thing about a trade involving Swisher, it could mess with the chemistry this team has built over the course of last year, with Swish being huge part of that.

I'm not the biggest fan of Swish, but he has a place in this Yankees lineup. He holds the Yankee philosophy in his approach to working the count...and its nice to not have a "superstar" at every position.

I wish he had a stronger arm in RF, and he'd be my favorite player. But these girly arms eventually need to go. (Loved Damon, but ain't gunna miss the ol' noodle arm)
