Tampa Bay Rays Add Alexander Torres, Desmond Jennings, and Jeremy Hellickson to 40-Man Roster

Red Sox have the upper hand on Aroldis Chapman since his best friend is already signed with us. Lol @ the Yankee Fans saying pass on Chapman. Top 3 young pitchers in the world right now. Could be the next Pedro.

Rays are f**king retarded if they trade for Bradley.
This is going to be one of those ongoing storylines. If this report is to be trusted, then the Rays would essentially trade contracts with the Cubs. They would pay Milton Bradley the same amount they were going to pay Pat Burrell, but if the Cubs covered some (or hopefully all) of Bradley's 2011 salary, the Rays would have an opt-out clause if Bradley acts up and murders a bat boy or six.

You know, I can see that happening. I can see them both sitting back on their laurels this offseason and going into next season with pretty much the same squads

Ok, probably not

According to Phil Rogers of the Chicago Tribune, the Cubs, Mets and Rangers have discussed a deal that would land Milton Bradley in Texas.

The Mets would send Luis Castillo to the Cubs, Kevin Millwood would head to New York, and cash would be paid to the Rangers to cover some of the two years, $21 million remaining on Bradley's contract. We've heard similar rumors before and the amount of moving parts make it difficult to take too seriously. That said, it does make some sense. Stay tuned.
According to SI.com's Jon Heyman, the Mariners are in talks with the Tigers about a trade involving right-hander Edwin Jackson.

Jackson went 13-9 this season with a 3.62 ERA and 1.26 WHIP over 33 starts. He'd be a great addition to any rotation and especially in the spacious confines of Safeco Field. He made $2.3 million in 2009 via salary arbitration and, as Heyman points out, is due for a substantial raise.
According to SI.com's Jon Heyman, the Brewers plan to approach Prince Fielder with a long-term extension this offseason.

Fielder finished second in the majors with 46 homers in 2009 and tied Albert Pujols with 141 RBI. He tallied an impressive .299/.412/.602 batting line. The Brewers need to find solutions for the wretched starting rotation this winter, but locking up a hitter like Fielder can only be described as wise. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Tom Haudricourt doesn't expect talks to truly get going until January.

According to T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com, a reported three-team deal involving the Cubs, Mets, Rangers and Milton Bradley will not happen.

Phil Rogers of the Chicago Tribune reported Friday morning that a deal which would send Kevin Millwood to the Mets, Luis Castillo to the Cubs, and Bradley to Texas was in the works. Sullivan spoke to a "high-ranking" Rangers official Friday afternoon, who said bluntly: "Not happening." The Rangers have Millwood tabbed as their No. 1 starter heading into the 2010 season.

Sox must be laying in the weeds right now waiting to make a surprise move (i hope at least) can't believe they haven't gone after anyone yet... I could care less about Bay he wants way too much moeny he's not even a real cleanup hitter anyways. Let him go to NY for 21 million or whatever to be a pinch hitter.

Michael Silverman of the Boston Herald reports that the Red Sox have expressed interest in four of Scott Boras' clients -- Matt Holliday, Mike Gonzalez, Rick Ankiel and Adrian Beltre.

The Red Sox are looking at Holliday as a more expensive alternative should they fail to re-sign Jason Bay. Gonzalez, a left-hander, could presumably take the role of Billy Wagner if he signs as a closer elsewhere. Ankiel is a surprising name, but since they just acquired Jeremy Hermida, also a left-handed outfielder, it's hard to see a fit. Lastly, Beltre would only make sense if the Red Sox find a suitor for Mike Lowell, who has one year and $12 million left on his contract. It's important to understand that this is just the first day of free-agency, so look for the Red Sox to be linked to most, or all, of the major free agents.

The Blue Jays have contacted the Cubs regarding Roy Halladay, reports Carrie Muskat of MLB.com.

Don't get too excited, Cubs fans. Muskat writes that Chicago can't afford Halladay's $15.10 million salary in 2010 without including Milton Bradley in the deal. Unfortunately for the Cubs, Bradley isn't on Toronto's wishlist. In addition, the Blue Jays will likely ask for top prospect Starlin Castro, a player the Cubs are hesitant to part with. Either way, the Blue Jays told the Cubs that they intend to move Halladay this winter.

Omar Vizquel signs with White Sox

CHICAGO (AP) - Omar Vizquel has agreed to $1,375,000, one-year
contract with the Chicago White Sox.
The 42-year-old Vizquel is an 11-time Gold Glove winner and has
played mostly shortstop during 21 major league seasons. He figures
to add depth to Chicago's young infield.
Vizquel hit .266 with one homer and 14 RBIs in 62 games with
Texas this year. He had no errors in 207 chances while playing
shortstop, third and second.
He will play for White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen, a fellow

According to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, "there are indications" the Twins will try to work out an extension with Joe Mauer "by Christmas."

It's going to take a huge sum of money to lock up Mauer, who took home his first AL MVP on Monday, but all indications are he wants to stay in Minnesota. The 26-year-old hit an incredible .365/.444/.587 in 2009 with a career-high 28 home runs and 96 RBI. Oh, and he also won a Gold Glove. The Twins move into spanking new Target Field next season, which should help ease the financial burden of a Mauer extension. New parks tend to drive up revenue

Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com confirmed Tuesday that free agent Nick Johnson has already drawn interest from multiple teams this offseason.
Johnson has reportedly heard from the Mariners, Giants, Mets and even the Yankees, who could use him at DH. The 31-year-old had the highest 2009 on-base percentage of any hitter on the free agent market this winter and an overall batting line of .291/.426/.405. He's been an above-average defender at first base for most of his seven-year big league career.

:applause: Nick would finally be healthy getting to DH and could spell Tex at 1st to keep him fresh as well. Imagine Nick's Bat in the 2 hole infont of Tex-Rod.

His contract will be burdensome in the last few years of that deal (Think Piazza) but the Twins have to give him a blank check to keep him from leaving.

Andy Pettitte, 37, is expected to take some time before deciding whether to return for an 18th professional season.
Pettitte had a solid 2009 campaign, finishing 14-8 with a 4.16 ERA and 1.38 WHIP in 32 starts, but he may ultimately decide to hang up his cleats. "I thought Andy was real important to our success," Yanks manager Joe Girardi said Monday. "Any time you lose a starting pitcher that gives you 200 innings, that's a hole." He'll likely be offered a one-year deal to return.

Andy please don't take until January to decide this. Yanks need to know if they should pursue Lackey, especially when his price comes down due to the lack of suitors.
