That kid from the Marlins sucks. He's nothing more than a 4th outfielder, defensive replacement. SMH @ you BKJ. Sox are going back to the nitty gritty, pitching and defense.

Matsui basically gone :(

Yankees need to sign a starter, a reliever like fernando rodney or matt capps and resign johnny damon.
Resigning Damon is more of a necessity but I think the Yankees are waiting for the smoke to clear on the Matt Holliday situation. Come January and he's not signed, he might take a shorter deal. No thank you to Capps, when the Pirates cut you loose, something's gotta be wrong. No thanks to Rodney either.

Cards Offer Most Lucrative Deal In Team History To Holliday
By Zach Links [December 14 at 11:10pm CST]

The Cardinals have offered Matt Holliday a deal which would pay him $16MM per year for at least eight seasons, writes Joe Strauss of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. As St. Louis is anxious to reach a resolution, those familiar with the talks believe it possible that Holliday could reach a verdict before Christmas.

This proposal dwarfs the average value of the 7-year, $100MM contract Albert Pujols inked in the winter of 2004. Of course, the average value of Pujols' next contract will likely overshadow the pitch made to Holliday.

Strauss writes that the Yankees may be the most dangerous variable to the Cardinals, despite their insistance that they are not pursuing Holliday. With Jason Bay pointed towards signing with the Mets and the Red Sox inking Mike Cameron, two potential suitors are presumably off the chase.

Do you believe that the Yanks are seriously considering throwing their pinstriped hat into the Holliday ring? Is Scott Boras overplaying his hand on what seems to be a titanic offer? Let's hear your thoughts in the comments section.

I'll take Capps... He's young and he throws hard... He has potential to play a vital role in the bullpen.... The Pirates are just a fuked up organization....

Same ones who traded away their only decent player in McLouth to the Braves for basically nothing...

Not to mention when Cashman got over on them with Marte and Nady....

Any news on Mike Gonzalez?

I'd like to see the Yanks sure up their bullpen, especially adding another solid lefty after they traded away Coke in the Granderson deal. Marte was unreal down the stretch, but I don't know if he can truly be counted on just yet...and a lefty reliever out of the pen who could pitch the 8th inning would be a solid addition.

No word as of yet but seeing as how he'll cost 2 picks the Yanks don't want that right now.

The guy they didn't trade in the Granderson deal, Michael Dunn is a on of our top relief prospects that Cash believes can step in a fill the void coke left. All of those available setup/closer guys require giving up draft picks so I'm with Cash for not biting.

Capps would be a decent pickup but word is that he's looking to close. I guarantee Cashman has Kenny Williams on speed dial about Bobby Jenks who's basically being shown the door by the Chi-Sox.

The Yankees have reached out to Jason Bay's representatives, a source tells Michael Silverman of the Boston Herald. While the Mets, Angels, and Mariners are said to be the frontrunners for his services, the article says that the bombers are "lurking in the weeds."

Silverman stresses that the Yanks are not believed to have made an offer at this point and their level of interest is currently unclear.

Also, while it appears unlikely that there is a place for Bay in Boston, it should be noted that the club has yet to inform him that he is no longer in their plans.
Bay probably would take less to stick it to the Red Sox for shoving him to the side but I don't want no part of him. He's strictly a DH at this point, if we want that we should've just brought back Matsui or look into Vlad the Impaler.

Yankees "very interested" in P Ben Sheets

Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports zhears that the Yankees are "very interested" in Ben Sheets , though they don't believe the righty is in a hurry to sign.zWhen the Yanks met with agent Casey Closezat the Winter Meetings, it became apparentzthat they had some interest in Sheets , in spite of suggestions that he could seek $12MM per season z(quite an ambitious target, in my opinion).

Now that the Red Sox have agreed to terms with John Lackey , it may be the Yankees' turn to add a former All Star of their own.
