AllHipHop.com Daily News - : Lil Wayne To Plead To 8 Months In Jail, Sources Say
By Houston Williams
Lil Wayne will be forced to plead out to a jail term in New York City on Thursday, according to sources with AllHipHop.com.
The rapper is expected to accept an 8-month bid in jail over his alleged involvement with a loaded .40-caliber pistol gun found on his tour bus in 2007 while in New York.
The 27-year-old now faces 15 years in jail for each count of criminal weapons possession and criminal possession of a loaded weapon.
"Wayne is going to plead guilty," a source close to the case told AllHipHop.com, stressing that this was definitely going to happen. The rapper pleaded not guilty at press time and has yet to make any such public declaration. "The date is coming up and he's going to do it tomorrow."
Wayne is rumored to be willing to accept the deal to avoid a long term in jail over the gun. The same source said the term will begin in February of 2010 under the terms of the deal. "If he doesn't plead, he goes to jail for a long time," the source said.
"They told him that if he doesn't plead tomorrow, it will go to trial and then he faces a far longer jail term," the source continued.
A small amount of DNA may have changed the landscape of the case, according to a report by the a.ssociated Press. There is a "minuscule" amount of the rapper's DNA on the gun, reports say, and that has strengthened the case for the prosecution.
Another hearing is set to resume tomorrow, where the rapper will reportedly announce his next move.
AllHipHop.com was unable to obtain comment from representatives for Wayne at press time and the rapper didn't speak to the media at a court date earlier today.
Lil' Wayne has another trial looming in March over felony drug and weapons charges from a January 2008 police raid.

New York attorney Scott Leemon, who has represented Jim Jones and 50 Cent in the past, has addressed Lil Wayne's guilty plea to felony gun possession and detailed why the rapper's year behind bars may have been the best choice.
According to Leemon, Wayne got off easy due his 2007 gun case having taken place in New York where the laws are typically more strict than other regions.
Had the rapper not struck a deal with prosecutors, he could have been looking at a mandatory minimum of three and a half years in prison if he was found guilty by trial. It's worth noting that the minimum sentence was raised in 2006 after the New York Legislature passed a bill that increased the mark at the behest of New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg. "Basically, the old law required someone to have a loaded weapon and intend to use it [before] the mandatory minimum would kick in," Leemon said in an interview. "And basically, what they did is they took that out of the law. So the mere possession of a loaded weapon in New York State is a felony. That's why you should not have a gun in New York." (MTV)
Wayne's plea was confirmed Thursday (October 22) morning.
Lil Wayne has pleaded guilty to attempted weapon possession, and expects to receive a one-year jail sentence. He previously had pleaded not guilty to illegal gun possession charges that carried at least 3 1/2 years in prison upon conviction. His trial had been due to start Jan. 20. (Associated Press)
Lil Wayne reportedly hired a former FBI geneticist to help him in his New York felony gun case and prove his innocence over the summer.
Lil Wayne is hoping Bruce Budowle will get him off the hook for the .40-caliber semiautomatic cops grabbed from his tour bus near Columbus Circle two years ago.Wayne has hired him in hopes of challenging the DNA test that matched him to cells swabbed off the gun. Budowle is set to argue that, with too few cells to test conventionally, Manhattan prosecutors relied instead on a problematic test called low copy number typing, according to court papers. Rappers like Juelz Santana and Jim Jones resorted to Twitter to give their reactions to Wayne's plea.
"Thts crazy lil Wayne gets a year for a hand pistol and ti gets the same tome for having army issued rifles wit silencers U tell me wtf," Jones wrote Thursday afternoon via Twitter. (Jim Jones' Twitter)
End of Drake?
Obviously on one hand it will provide Drake with the center of the spotlight for a year, and he'll gain prominence and sales from that
But do yall think it also will be bad for Drake on a personal level? He has never seemed comfortable around the cash money crowd, and now with Wayne gone, I bet he'll have to deal more and more closely with Baby (yes homo).
I think Drake has just recently realized that, despite the exposure with Wayne and Cash Money, he sold his life to some real real grimey dudes.
And on Cash Money's end, you know they can't really respect dude. They see his as a mark they are just exploiting and raping for cash. Drake really cant ever trust them to look out for him. They're going to chew him up and spit him out (yes homo).
Now be real here: Drake is a half white dude who lived rich in the suburbs and grew up on TV. Do you really think he's comfortable around these real ruthless, gangsta n*ggas like Baby and Slim, who really moved weight and caught bodies and ordered hits? At least Wayne was a buffer between him and the darker, grimier side of Cash Money
You think Drake scared about this? What you think his parents, with their nice suburban life, thinks about all this? He going to bring this man home to visit mom and dad at the country club?

What you people think.
Drake cant hold it down by himself. Your out your mind if you think that. Drake isnt no gangsta. He cant stand in this industry by himself.
Cash money's fall. Even if Wayne has 2 albums coming out, he cant promote it, and tour the way he did.
Cash money stole heavy from Hot Boys, Juvenile, BG, Mannie Fresh, name it. They straight played out their artists like Gillie the Kid and Mac 10. This is the payback. Wayne going to jail is gonna be their fall once and for all.
