If it's not a good guy/bad guy flick, then how is he a bad guy?
Name one villainous thing Travis did the entire movie except for when he contemplated k!lling Palantine.
Convincing a prostitute to return to her home and give up the street life?
Killing her pimp and the patrons and owner of that brothel/hotel?
Oh yeah, real bad guy.
If he was a villain, he wouldn't have tried to save Iris' life and he would have accepted the money that Sport tossed in his cab during their first encounter. That was SUCH an important part of his character development. If you think Travis is a villain, or just chose to ignore Scorcese's direction, the movie went right over your head and you wasted 20 years of your life.
He didn't have to do evil things, his character was still sideways, no way to call him a hero. Your giving a narrow definition and a villain can be a lot more than a bad guy who commits crimes, he clearly had intentions of murder, racist thoughts, he purchased illegal weapons, k!lled drug dealers for 0 reason etc.
Your arguing your opinion, I wouldn't call anything a waste because your opinion means s**t to me.
