depends what kinda of returns u want...and the risk ur willing to take...u could learn about stock options...those would give u the quickest and largest returns...then again its even easier to lose all your money...u have to decide what risk ur willing to take

Also depends on whether you're looking at a long term investment or short term.

Okay, please don't listen to these f**king morons. Any schmuck can tell you to invest in stocks, but let me tell you what's making me s**tloads of money right now with an initial investment of half of what you have.

Your answer if you choose to accept it: Real Estate overseas... namely India.

First off, the Indian real estate market is booming on an exponential level and is showing no signs of stopping. The recession might have slowed it down just a TAD, but it's still going strong. This, as opposed to the US, where you're basically f**ked right now if you own a house.

Second of all, investing in a house in the US requires s**tloads of dollars. In India, a decent property costs anywhere between 10-20 lakhs. 1 lakh is 100,000 rupees which is equal to 2500 dollars. All you need is at least 2-3 lakhs for your down payment. Do the math. That means if you invest 10,000$ thats around 4 lakhs, which is a great down payment. After that, just rent it out (and trust me, there are a billion people in India, you'll have no problem with that) to cover your mortgage. Maybe put in an extra 100$ a month into it.

See where I'm going?

I bought a property 2 years ago for 10 lakhs with a down payment of $6000 (2.5 lakhs). I managed to cover my mortgage expenses.

Guess what? That property is now currently worth 45 lakhs. I get e-mail bombed every f**king day from people making me offers over this place. I'm planning on waiting it out till Summer 2010 and then selling it. By then, it'll probably go up to 55 lakhs or so.

So, let's see now.

Init. Investment: $6,000
Current worth: $112,500
Upkeep: $100/month

It's funny how nobody in the States know about this. f**king dummies.

1) (assume ur in america) did u have to make a trip to india to get this done?
2) are you indian yourself?
3) if you have payment problems.... who takes care of it? You can't exactly pop in the door and ask for the money

Are you serious with this crap? You can do the same thing here with almost as little money without the hassle of going to f**king India. I have enough trouble talking to those people over the phone about why my internet isnt working. Cant even imagine if I had to talk to them about legal transactions.

LOL at buying a house in India...do you realize how much of a hassle it would be if something goes wrong and you don't live in India? What are you going to do...fly over there to fix the s**t?

GTFOH

Besides...even if what you say is true (which I doubt it). Your actual profit is $106,500 over the period of 2 years which comes down to $53,300 in 1 year. Now that's actually VERY good...if it's true.

But you can make a lot more money in the stock market anyway.
