Nothing to be ashamed of imo for the niners. They are a much much improved team and they could have taken this game. They are still nfc west top team and will make the playoffs this year, just a bit inexperienced on coaching and player side, they will learn to put teams away.

If Gore could stay healthy for once that game would of been a wrap...when it comes down to the 9ers having to throw the ball they have no shot...they need to run and defend...passing shouldn't be in their playbook....good game though...Singletary has them boys playing great football...damn shame to see that b**ch Favre snake a win out...

Me & my boy had a 3 team parlay with the money lines on Cinci, Detroit & the 9ers...$40 to win $1180...pretty tight that damn play cost us it...

That was a heartbreaking loss, but we played pretty good. We just gotta bounce back next week.

Thats what caused us to lose....

No way we should of ran it 3 times in a row with less than 2 minutes left...

I understand we are dedicated to the run, but we should at least gave Hill a chance to get the first down when he had the momentum on his side....

Was a good game, pretty much an unbelievable ending. Hate the last drive play calls on offense. Also, sucks we should have picked Percy Harvin over Crabtree...

How about you go read postgame articles like I did and see what journalists who were at the game and had photographers on the end line had to say dumbass. I watched the tv game and because it wasnt a top level game they only had the minimum allowed cameras at the game. Normally, you would have a camera shot down both lines in the endzone but the didn't have one on the back endzone. Therefore, they could only look at views that didn't show conclusive evidence of his foot coming down on the line.
Proof? Prolly Santonio Holmes over all over again.

Shaun Hill was the most impressive player this game for me he actually showed poise and ability to have a 4th quarter comback drive in hostile territory. Raye needs to open up the offense a little more and we should be able to win these close games.

tough loss no matter how you look at it...but I think the 49ers played a good game just didn't finish, even with our best player out we took an above average team to the end....just take it out on the rams next week

You mean your Defense played a great game. Your Offense didn't convert on a single 3rd down the entire game. They were getting manhandled at the line of scrimmage as well. That Offense really needs to step it up if 49ers want to be a contender. The only receiving threat was Vernon Davis, and he's a Tight End.

Actually, if they passed and didn't convert, it would have stopped the clock and that's the last thing they wanted. They had to just pound it out and hope their RB breaks one. Not only that, running the ball forced Vikings to use all of their timeouts. Worst case scenario was that they'd have to punt, but being up by 4 points and having your opponent start at the 20 with no timeouts left under 2 minutes to go is worth risking more than trying a pass play and stopping the clock for them, plus they keep their timeouts. 49ers had the lead. They did what was smart. No need to take a chance. Play it safe and let the clock run and put your opponent in the worst situation you can put them in and challenge them to beat your strong Defense. They did what they could. They just got beat. That's all you can really say about it.

U are right.. I'm playing Monday morning QB and if we would have won I wouldn't critique..

But the Vikes were anticipating the run. On each of the final 3 plays they had 8 men in the box.. We got stuffed on back to back plays, and everyone on D knew the ball was going to Coffee....

I understand clock managment and staying commited to the run, but there are times as an OC when u have to catch ya opponent off guard...

It can work, both ways because maybe if we would have passed we would have won, but we didn't... Now that wasn't the sole reason for our lost, but after a lost you take a closer look at the minute things that can cause a bigger problem later on within the season..

The Vikings were playing like monsters in the closing. They were penetrating on every play. If the 49ers tried to pass and didn't convert, it would have screwed them big time. They only way to guarantee no turnovers + burn the clock + force Vikings to use timeouts, were run plays.

But if you're talking about bigger problems later in the season, I'd look at your Offense as a whole. They weren't able to produce on any 3rd down situations and were barely able to put points on the board. If not for that blocked Field Goal, they wouldn't even have been leading in the 4th. They probably won't be facing another Defensive front like the Vikings all season though, so they should do better. By playoff time though, if they expect to make go deep, that Offense needs to get it together, cause the Defense is solid.
