Guess I have to comment on this game. The blame for this loss is solely on the special teams. Other than that first drive for the Saints..whenever our defense had good field position we either made them punt or kick a FG. The Saints have a great offense if they have good field position they WILL score touchdowns.

Think about the two biggest shifts in momentum for the Saints. The return by Jackson where he probably should have let it go into the end zone but he didn't and even had a good return, however the problem was the block in the back penalties on the run that brought us back to the point that if the Saints held us to a 3 and out they would get the ball back in good field position. They did and got good field position and scored a touchdown.

And then pretty much the capper was the Hobbs fumble on the kick return to start the 2nd half. We had a great chance to build on the momentum of the FG to end the 1st half and then we come out and turn it over on the return. And of course...the Saints get good field position and score a TD.

Without our best player we can't win shootouts. Kolb had a good first half mostly because we were balanced between running the ball both through wild cat and normal formations and having Kolb making some nice passes. It was a good balance in the first half. But when the Saints opened up the game and Kolb made that dire mistake with the interception that led to the Saints going up 31-13 there was very little he could do from that point on b/c the balance was gone.

But for the most part Kolb showed that he can do somethings in this league. Its our special teams that let us down by putting our defense in bad field position against a great offense. Without McNabb we can't get in shootouts. I dunno if we would have won or not with him b/c the Saints offense gashed our defense when they had good field position but there was a drive in the game that McNabb would have definitely ended with a touchdown that would have given us a 17-10 game. Who knows how the game would have turned out had we had that type of a lead.

Safe to say that we need 5 back.

:iagree:

we were on schedule untile d.jack fieled that kick, should've let it go in but he wanted to make a play.

that td before the half was a k!ller bc we pretty much slowed them down (dont know how they missed the hold and face mask on that pass to bush)

then i left to bring my girl to work and we were down big time. fumble and interception on back to backs.................... :angry12:

i hope we see them again.

meanwhile, i tthought the gmen would handle the tony homo and the cowgirls easier then that.

All good points as to why we lost, not to mention that holding non-call on that drive to end the first half which really swang the momentum in no's favor.

With all that being said, its only one game. In this league you're really never as good as you look and you're never really as bad as you look, s**ts different every week. I except the D and ST to come out with a chip on its shoulder and wreck KC next week.

Eagles always have a game like this though, every season. Where we just get blown away. The Ravens beat us by 29 last season and it kicked off our turnaround. I'm glad we got it out of the way already and can bounce back against the Chiefs and then a bye week and can come back with McNabb ready. Seems we always throw away a game and get burned. But it's a long season still, it's only the second game.
too many mental mistakes and penalties...you cant give brees a short field and expect to win
