did anyone cop the extended warranty, know the cost, or if its worth it? or have any opinions regarding it? I'm not sure if a average PC head thats pretty nice with the structure of the PC would have a hard time fixing something if it just so happened stopped working. I believe their is already a 1 year warranty, that covers everything but I'm quite ignorant about the topic so I'm not sure.

I heard the only time you really need to send it to the Apple is when you change your battery ( and that i heard is once every 5 years)
i think your talking about apple care...i read up on it and i think its well worth...basically for up to a yr of the original purchase date...your apple is covered under apple care...when you buy it you would get 2 more years...its 300 bucks..ima cop mine soon

i have used mac for about 4 years. now its great. it can be cliche to say, but "simplicity does go a long way." it is very user friendly. dont waste your money on word, pwerpoint or any of that. i bought mac version which comes with their own version: pages (word), Keynote (power point) and numbers (excel). they can open word, powerpoint, etc, and lets say you do a document and want to send it to someone running word, there is an option where u can export it into a word doc. everything you need.
i have never got a virus, lets hope i dont know, or had any types crashes. i highly recommend it. it maybe pricey. but ive been riding with the entry level version which starts at 999.

Hope it lives up to the hype!

My opinion all depends on how much time you've got to hear it. The list of reasons to make the switch is long.

Believe it or not, the Mac OS is easier to use than a PC and you don't run into the same problems that you would with a PC. Those little errors that pop up when you want to run something on a PC don't show up AT ALL on a Mac. I have yet to have even 1 error pop up and I've had this thing for 7 months already.

When it comes to running certain software, you're right. I haven't found Mac versions of all Windows software. However, if you do decide to get the Mac, I'll pm you a website that I have that gives me software for the Mac. Plus a special software that will allow you to run Windows native programs without installing Windows.

And yes, Bootcamp does work. It works brilliantly. So far I've run XP, Vista and Windows 7 using it. And the funny thing is that I have had less issues running these OS's on the Mac than I did using them on a PC.

So yeah, if you're interested in getting a Mac, you should. It's alot easier to use, plus it's more fun. It comes bundled with great software too. And you get what you pay for (hence the reason why Windows computers act up all the time). My Mac hasn't acted up yet.
.....aye it would be much appreciated if you can forward me some of the same info for getting windows and bootcamp for my mac.....

Peronally, I'm a pc guy. I've used both and I don't see an improvement over windows 7 or even xp on anything apple has made(we all know the drawbacks of vista though). For me it's economics. WHy spend more when there really aren't tangible advantages. I've had pcs for years and never had a virus. That is preventable with software and not using your computer carelessly. The computer I'm typing on now is four yeaars old and still runs really well I added memory and an external hard drive and updated to Windows 7 and that's been more than enough (I have a new HP Desktop and Toshiba laptop that cost me less than 1600 combined (including HD screens) and I would be willing to put them up against any Mac. The key is to find specs that somewhat exceed your use so that you're never taxing the computer's hardware (and even more important is to keep your computer in a cool environment with protection from electrical problems). Yearly maintenance and never get more that 2 Os's behind. XP still outclasses any Mac OS in my opinion.

Yo, big props on the info. Shoot me a message with the link if you wanna.

Yeah, I've been considering getting that $999 Macbook...with the education pricing, that'll be like $50 off...but I just wanted to be sure it's worth paying almost $200 or $300 more compared to any Dell or HP laptop.

Sounds like it's very nice, though. I'll look more into it. Thank you!
the hardware of the Mac is the biggest selling point. that and the accessories, in my opinion. You can get a much more powerful PC for half the price of a comparable mac and windows 7 is really great. I haven't encountered any problems, errors or Blue Screens of death at all in over a year of using it. Microsoft is really stepping it. The only reason to buy a mac is the design, screen, and if you are a graphic designer. Even that, if Steve Jobs keeps poking at Adobe over Flash, we'll see how long Adobe gives osx priority over windows 7.
