Os only had 7 less runs then the Yanks last season

They were just outside the Top 10, not a horrible offense

Word first game of the season as Tex was a bigger flop chance to tie the game with runners on first and third in the top of the 8 inning and he does nothing. C.C went 0-3 in his first three starts last year he will be fine if hes traded to a small market nl team again

You guys wont be playing any meaningful games after august AGAIN .

Have fun with AJ burnett who only pitches well on his contract years and CC who is 1 cheeseburger away from a heart attack.

Mets, Marlins, Phils, Braves>>>Yankees

Stay :angry12:
Have fun in 4th place. Your lineup is trash and rotation after Santana isn't any good. John Maine? Oliver Perez? Livan Hernadez? The bullpen won't even have a chance to blow a bunch of leads this year.

Go figure out how many more "hames" the Mets are going to win this year. They are nowhere close to the Yankees, never have been and never will be.

The Royals were mostly uninvolved this winter in the free-agency cash grab that CC Sabathia and others enjoyed.

But their inability to pursue the most expensive free-agent pitchers actually could be in their best interest.

The Star consulted with a stats-oriented executive of a major-league organization to find a simple way to judge recent big-money free-agent contracts for starting pitchers.

We looked at the 47 contracts worth $5 million or more per year signed by active players, and analyzed their innings pitched, ERA and adjusted ERA for up to three years before and after the contract. Our executive said this would be a crude but effective way to make a judgment.

The results are brutal: Thirty pitchers regressed after signing, and only 13 improved. Four contracts were close enough to be judged either way. That’s a fail ratio of 2:1.

Generally, teams are better served drafting and developing their starting pitchers — and signing the ones who turn out to extensions.

In other words, that's a 64% failure ratio...not very good to play the odds with only a 1 in 3 chance of success...and a 2/3 chance you'll cripple your team financially in the future if things go south.

your stupid as s**t

@ the lineup being a.ss. Mets scored a s**tload of runs last year and have 3 top 10 nl players .

rotation has question marks but if maine and perez do wat they did 2 yrs ago and pelf did what he did last yr than it could easily be a top 5 roation.

Worry about your own oldass team. Relying on Jorge, Hideki, a injuried A fraud whose gonna have even more distractions and a weak a.ss outfield.

The mets will win more "hames" games or watever else ur lame a.ss wants to bring up.

You clearly know nothing about baseball dont come in my threads anymore

There's really nothing to debate about here. CC was awful today, he didn't even strike a batter out either. Yes it's a long season, but u'd think he would have really wanted to impress. Maybe the Yankees problem is they overpay by so much, the player feels too much pressure to live up to the contract

If CC was really the truth, dude woulda put on a show. There was too much offseason hype for his 1st showing to go like it did.

So should we be expecting CC to send his cousin to the DR to pick up illegal steroids/supplements over the counter soon?

A Yankee cheating? Blasphemy, these guys are baseball players that are forced to shave & get appropriate haircuts. Obviously they would never cheat.

CC pitched over 200 innings last season...that s**t is gonna take it's toll on him...especially as fat and big as that motherf**ker is...plus I remember him being borderline awful at the start of last season until he was traded to the NL...

AJ Burnett is going to be even worse...

It's not going to take it's toll. And he was better after his first four starts last year. It didn't start after he was traded

I know C.C. Has done bad in year's past on opening day and it does mean nothing (Phillies Lost Last Year Opening Day, Red Sox Lost Opening Day in 07 & St Louis Won In 06) - But still shouldn't he perform well on one of the most meaningless days of the year??

So, are you expecting him to do well every single start?

dude had a few good games before he got traded. When he was traded over to the Brewers dude went off!.

However if you dont think that pitching a combined 500 innings over the last 2 years is not going to have any affect on him then you're an idiot.

Pitchers really dont hit their peak until their 30's. This dude is 28 years old and is 38th on the active leaderboard for innings pitch. I applaud the dude for going out and getting s**t done but theirs no way his arm is going to hold up through all the wear and tear he has done.
