Lower the weight, and do front squats to improve your form.

Get someone who KNOWS how to squat and deadlift, and show you. You are obviously doing something wrong, perhaps you're too wide, or you aren't pointing your toes slightly outward.

How do I strengthen My knees?
Check your feet position. Deadlifts are my favorite. Approach the bar and stand straight up. Keep your feet inside your arms. Bend your knees and keep your feet pointing straight, grab the bar and lift up starting with your legs and then when the bar passes your knees your lower back takes over.

For the squat to fix your form just squat off the box

do not do leg extensions, that guys an idiot, any orthopedist will tell you that's an unnatural movement (you're knee wasn't built to extend with any weight load on it)....just do squats, deads, and lunges light with good form and you'll see teh knees feel stronger because the muscles that support them get stronger and take the load off your knees

it depends on what's wrong with your knees. i got patellar tendonitis and i'm not supposed to be squatting at all. the first thing you should do is go find out if there's anything wrong with your knees first before you start doing squats and sh*t.

Guaranteed your squat form is off. Front squats actually put a lot more strain on your knees then back squats. You should be box squatting, finding the right height of a box.

When a lot of people squat they fail to involve their hamstrings. They bend their knees forward until they're way past perpendicular to the ground. You have to sit into a squat not learn forward. Box squats help you because they teach you sit back onto the box which helps back squat form greatly.

Biomechanically, the depth at which you squat varies from person to person. Some will make great progress in FULL squats, others just parallel, and some a little above parallel. Whichever you can make the best gains doing, follow it. Each depth affects the pressure on your knee differently from person to person also.

If not box squatting use something as a guide so you know your hitting the same depth every time. Also a trainer by the name of Mike Mentzer claims that pointing your feet slightly outward during squats reduces the pressure on your knees.
