because Cassel is this year's Derek Anderson just because ur a Pats fan doesnt change anything.... Thigpen is just as good, he just doesnt have the Pats line or Randy Moss and Wes Welker to throw to.... Vrabel is over the hill so u get rid of a back up and an old lb for possibly Curry who will be a beast
I doubt that.... Derek Andersen only had a bad year because his weapons forgot how to catch the ball too busy doing commercials or wilding out with the front office.

It's a good trade I guess, but it's a big fu*k up on the Pats if Brady isn't ready.

Its two picks. Depending on how the Jets do next year (we all know they gonna be a.sscheeks) we get a 2nd rounder in 2010. Lowest pick we can get is a 4th rounder. Not bad but we coulda got more last year for him

It depends on how the Jets play? It should depend on how Lito plays ( & by that I mean the number of games he plays, hes always hurt)

they wont be as "asscheeks" as the eagles.

their defense is coming together nicely. rex ryan knows what hes doing. theyre looking at chris mcalister right now.

the eagles on the other hand will be garbage until they trade mc choke.

jason brown caves to crappy rams.
Center Jason Brown's deal with the St. Louis Rams is for five years, and is believed to be the richest ever signed by a center -- topping Jeff Faine's deal in Tampa -- and among the most lucrative inked by an interior lineman.

Brown wanted to stay in Baltimore, but when the Ravens couldn't match his asking price and free agency started, he zeroed in on St. Louis.

The Rams' efforts, and the red-carpet treatment afforded, came thanks to the work of GM Billy Devaney and coach Steve Spagnuolo. While the Dolphins, Vikings and Redskins showed interest at midnight Friday, St. Louis controlled the process throughout.

who really wants to sign this guy anyways?
Receiver T.J Houshmandzadeh has said that he'd like to play for the Eagles. But, as it turns out, the Eagles might not be interested.

According to Derrick Gunn on Comcast SportsNet, the Eagles didn't react kindly to an effort by Houshmandzadeh to dupe the team into thinking that he was offering Philly a discount. After checking around, the Eagles reportedly learned that Houshmandzadeh's agent was actually asking for more money from the Eagles than from other teams.

Per Gunn, the Eagles previously had little interest in Houshmandzadeh. The alleged bait-and-switch routine ensured that the Eagles won't make a play for him.

Meanwhile, league observers continue to believe that Houshmandzadeh won't strike it as rich as he'd prefer. As Howard Balzer of The Sports Xchange pointed out to me earlier in the day, Houshmandzadeh will be 32 later this year. To put it bluntly, guys in their 30s rarely get rich in the early days of free agency.

leonhard is a hell of a player, jets defense shaping up. they need a pass rusher though.
With one ex-Raven defender in the fold, the New York Jets -- led by former Baltimore DC Rex Ryan -- are pursuing another.

Free-agent safety Jim Leonhard will visit the Jets on Saturday, according to agent Tim Valentyn.

Leonhard joined the Ravens in 2007, after starting his career in Buffalo, and became a full-time starter last year when safety Dawan Landry went down. Playing next to Ed Reed, Leonhard started 13 games, posting 85 tackles, six passes defensed and a pick.

In New York, he'd be placed next to another star safety in the Jets' Kerry Rhodes, and be reunited with former Raven teammate Bart Scott, who signed on Friday with the club.

Bills signed QB Ryan Fitzpatrick to an undisclosed contract.

There was talk of the Bills possibly bringing in a veteran to challenge Trent Edwards, but this signing puts an end to that talk. The noodle-armed Fitzpatrick is 100 percent backup material and is no threat to Edwards' job.

Asked why the Jets pursued Bart Scott over Ray Lewis, New York head coach Rex Ryan gave two reasons: Scott is younger and more versatile. While Lewis is strictly a middle linebacker, Scott can play both inside and outside. Ryan plans to use Scott and David Harris’ flexibility to disguise the Jets’ blitzes and coverage schemes.

"At the end of the day, both of them are outstanding players," said Ryan during a Friday night conference call. "Ray is a Hall of Fame player, one of the premier backers that have ever played. With Bart you get a guy who is young, as good with coverage skills as any inside linebacker in the game. With David Harris, it will be difficult to identify who the mike is. The offense bases its protections on where the mike linebacker is, and if they can’t identify him, that’s going to cause some problems."

With safety Jim Leonhard visiting the Jets on Saturday, they may not be done signing ex-Ravens. And Ryan did not apologize. Asked if the Jets’ defense would be Ravens North, Ryan said, "I think it will in production. I think we’re going to have an outstanding defense, and that’s right out of the gate."
he does fit their scheme better...
