I'll give you the reasons why I hated it:

1) They k!lled Cyclops within the first 10 minutes of the movie, and he went out like a bi*ch at that, u don't k!ll off a major character like that without making it a big deal, Cyc's character that whole trilogy was weak and bi*ch made, very bad casting and scriptwriting for his character IMO

2) Besides Prof X, Magneto and occasionally Rogue there was no emotion in the film. I hate when a studio/director/whoever tries to pack a story of several individuals into a movie that's not long enough for that
I definitely understand where you're coming from, and (to some extent) I agree. But, let me respond to you with where I'm coming from:

1). Cyclops was never a make-or-break character for me. I mean, I like him. But, I felt his role in the overall story arc wasn't the strongest to begin with. They took time to develop him in X-Men 1 at the expense of overlooking Jean Grey. In X-Men 2, they reversed it and developed Jean's story arc while Cyclops was overlooked. In X-Men 3, I can see what happened. Cyclops carried so much unnecessary baggage and back story to cover, that they wanted to eliminate him and get on with the important part.

2). I agree that the story was WAY overstuffed. but, I don't think it didn't have an emotional base. There was the double-edged sword that was Wolverine and Jean Grey's relationship (which was really the base of the story). There was Hank McCoy's role in the government and his own identity that was called into question. there were many emotional elements to the movie.

BUT, again I can agree with what you're saying, but I don't really 'hate' it. I kinda liked it despite all of it's glaring flaws.

Purple Rain not so much cause its the most popular, but Graffiti Bridge and Under The Cherry Moon (FAVOURITE EVER!) X

people say the movie isnt "believable" but what they fail to understand is that its was meant to be a over the top action comedy.

shoot'em up is the same type of movie that people dont understand what its meant to be.

For real. That movie is supposed to be entertaining. Now, I won't defend the movie as being a great movie but it's entertaining. I'm not one to question why or how this or that happened in a fictional movie, especially action movies.
