But plenty DO buy Blu Ray discs for exactly that reason.....

Sadly, I've met a few. Dude at work watches s**t purely because it's in HD and looks great on his expensive new TV.

Which is entirely different to getting the best possible version of a film you genuinely love.
Well I collect Blurays just like I collected DVDs before that. The great thing about Bluray is they can take an old movie you have seen a million times like Poltergeist or Bonnie And Clyde and make it look as if it where made yesterday and its like watching it for the first time.IT brings life back into alot of my fav older movies.....plus the Criterion collection looks great on Blu also.....yes the main reason people buy Blu is because it looks great in HD.....that is the main selling factor of Bluray.......otherwise I would still be collecting dvd's.

Way to miss a point, he wasn't pointing towards a specific genre he was just commenting on the weak minded approach of buying s**tty movies on new technology because it is new and pricey. It is plausible looking at these collections.
you are missing my points.. just because YOU or HE thinks a film is s**tty does not make it s**tty

its called opinions a.sshat, just because you think it sucks doesn't mean someone else can't like it.

No, it's the mentality I have a problem with, not the tech.

Life is based on opinions and I look down on these people's taste.

I agree with like 5 or 6 of the movies you have on Blu-Ray... The rest are hands down the most ridiculous buys ever. Meet The Browns? The Mummy 3? Those are s**tty movies you buy after you've gotten the good movies out of the way.

I think the nicest film I have that takes advantage of the HD-TV's colors is Speed Racer. IDK why everyone went ape s**t over having Dark Knight as if it had that much action to take advantage of their HD... Dark Knight was a great movie but it was mostly a drama IMO.

Dopest films that look amazing on Blu-Ray IMO are...
The Ultimate Matrix (although im not a fan of 2&3)
Wanted
Transformers
Speed Racer
Gone In 60 Seconds
Dirty Dancing (No homo, makes it look like it was filmed recently)

300 doesnt make my list cause some films have alot of noise on blu-ray. The whole movie u see the noise throughout.

This is another misconception about blu-ray that everything has to look “clear”. The “noise” you are referring to my friend is grain and film grain is a good thing. Grain in the movie 300 was placed there by the director to achieve the look he intended for the movie. 300 looks beautiful and ranks up there with Crank, 30 days of Night and Speed Racer as some of the best looking blu-rays released. A blu-ray is supposed to be the closet we’re going to get to seeing what the director envisioned the movie to look like (until of course ultra HD comes out :lostit0:).

The Dark Knight
X2: X-Men United
X-Men: The Last Stand
007: Casino Royale
007: Quantum of Solace
Planet Earth
Harry Potter 1-3
Weeds Season 1-4

I Am Legend
300
Semi-Pro
Taken
Transformers
Watchmen (Got for free, on the ground in Target parking lot :agreement6:)
True Blood S1
The Shining
The Haunting in Conneticut

Some of y'all got f**king huge collections. lol
I had to go in a f**king lousy Wal-Mart to get it (I hate Wal-Mart) but I picked up American Psycho for $10! Only addition since then...

According to promotional materials, Target has secured three very interesting Blu-ray exclusives which will hit the retailer's shelves next week: Joe Dante's 'Gremlins', which is not available anywhere else in the US; a 'Monsters vs. Aliens' BD/DVD combo edition; and a BD release of 'The Wizard of Oz' for only $34.99.

Detail views of the Target ad listing the Wizard of Oz, Gremlins and Monsters vs. Aliens exclusives. Unlike other exclusive offers, this time there has been no official announcement, either by Target or the studios involved. It is only thanks to our eagle-eyed forum members that this has been brought to light.

'Gremlins' has an advertised price of $22.99. Note that Warner Home Video hasn't even announced this title, but it is coming up on Blu-ray on several territories: France on October 7, Canada on October 13, the United Kingdom on October 19, and Germany on October 23.
The 'Monsters vs Aliens' BD/DVD combo pack will sell for $24.99. Like the regular BD edition, it will include the short 'B.O.B.'s Big Break' and four pairs of 3-D glasses.

The Target release of 'The Wizard of Oz' shows a price of $34.99, whereas the cheapest price for the Ultimate Collector's Edition is about $51. Going from the picture of the case, it stands to reason that all or some of the collectibles from the UCE might have been dropped. There is no information at this stage about what actual disc extras the Target edition will include.

The Wizard of Oz will be mine. :agreement6:
