That DLC for k!llzone 2 on the horizon, it is already known. Unfortunately we know only what it will bring us. The most obvious, new multiplayer maps. Want anyone like k!llzone 2 in co-operative play mode.

Today we have been clear on this, although still a little rumor as can be seen. On the official PlayStation UK site Guerrilla Games has an interview delivered. Here, you board it, he talks about a possible future DLC with a co-op mode.

The aim was to always ensure a high level of visual security for both the multiplayer and singleplayer. To this aim, they had this good balancing everything from hardware to get so it runs smoothly. This was a difficult task but certainly successful. Unfortunately, this means that a split-screen mode never will be. A co-op mode, maybe in the future.

Even in the hugely comprehensive multiplayer (which allows a level of customisation rarely seen in a FPS), a high level of visual fidelity was always the aim, with the desire to create something that would be as equally pretty as its single player counterpart. "All the systems were developed with that in the back of our minds," says Angie Smets, Senior Producer. While this meant sacrificing split screen gameplay, there may be some co-operative modes on the horizon to keep the excitement going. "We're investigating [co-op] now for downloadable content," she smiles. "We're looking at what would be the nicest possible things for downloadable content. We've already started on maps... we're not allowed to talk about anything else unfortunately!”
So far we have unfortunately still see this as a rumor, but it's certainly a start. Let us hope that Guerrilla Games is still working on a co-op mode for k!llzone 2. The whole interview can also be read .

In a recent live Q&A session, Seb Downie, QA Manager of k!llzone 2, was asked whether or not k!llzone 2 would support in-game soundtrack. In his response, he had this to say :

“Only for multiplayer via the XMB. In Single player the music is designed to match the action so it would be hard for us to mix up your favourite boyband.”
So, atleast in online play, KZ2 will be one of the first major PS3 games to support the in-game soundtrack feature.

Comments, thoughts, wanna lynch thier headquarters with Molotov c*cktails...discuss plans here...

When Sony showed off the capabilities of its newest system -- the PlayStation 3 -- at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in 2005, one game had nearly everyone talking.

The short video, presented without explanation, was an amazing futuristic war game with visuals that exceeded anything that could be done at the time. Quite simply, we couldn't believe our eyes; there was no way a game could look that good. Surely the footage had to be some kind of pre-rendered clip, not actual in-game footage.

When it is finally released on Feb. 27, will k!llzone 2 be that great, once-in-a-lifetime game everyone is expecting it to be?

Sadly, the answer is no.

Don't get us wrong. K2 is still an amazing war game that belongs alongside the other big boys in the future war category, such as the Resistance and Gears of War franchises. It is technologically flawless and a sight to behold.

Unfortunately, it's really not much different from the rest of the aforementioned titles that came out last holiday season, save for the frustratingly different default control setup (which can be changed to a more standard setup without much trouble). f!ght the bad guys, drive 'em back, blah, blah, blah. We've played this a thousand times before.

Though k!llzone 2 does look better than most, it ultimately fails to live up to the insanely high expectations that had been created for it -- and that's a shame.

Grade: A (The same high level as its predecessors, but little else)

Details: PlayStation 3 platform; $59.99; rated Mature (blood and gore, intense violence, strong language)

With k!llzone 2 a little more than a week away, the marketing engine is in full drive. Take, for instance, this amazing commercial for the upcoming PS3-exclusive shooter.

It was, the Sony folks tell us, created in-engine to show off the game's technology.

The idea for the commercial centered on telling the story of war on Helghan - up close and very personal and to use the game's engine to show it. No voodoo, no heavy metal soundtrack: just the true representation of the in-game graphics. The team at Guerrilla embraced the concept and we were on a production rollercoaster ride that produced a piece that will be broadcasted across several networks starting tomorrow.

"Every single frame of this commercial was directly rendered on a PS3 without the need for additional tweaking or touching up. We're very proud that our game engine technology has reached the point where we don't have to resort to software pre-rendering," said Hermen Hulst, Managing Director. "In that regard it is a testament to our commitment to deliver on what we promise. What you see is what you get."

But in-engine, really? Yes, in fact this coming March you'll be able to download a "playable" version of the in-game ad on the Playstation Network which will allow you to control the camera and hear director commentary.

Now that's in-engine.

Sony have released a press release giving exciting details about the launch of the new k!llzone 2 webgame!...

This new webgame is part of Sony’s big marketing push towards this very popular game and is compatible with Firefox and Internet Explorer. Read it all below:

A game that’s 4 years in the making deserves one hell of a launch. This is that Launch.
Killzone 2, the webgame.

Killzone 2 will bring a new level of intensity to the First Person Shooter genre (FPS) when it launches on February 27th exclusively for PlayStation®3. With more enemies, more hostile environments, more life or death moments. To build up to this historic launch, you can now get a taste of this excitement. Because now - nowhere is safe. Even online – thanks to k!llzone 2, the webgame.

Battle the Helghast across the entire World Wide Web. Shoot up the internet. Leave a trail of destruction in your wake. Whether you’re checking your email, doing some shopping or just randomly surfing, the Helghast can strike at any time. The www is now one big k!llzone.

How does it work? – Simple. Register at , install a quick plug-in for your browser and from then on, wherever you go on the internet, the Helghast could be waiting to pounce.

When you visit a site where the Helghast are waiting, engage them and its battle time. Your cursor becomes a crosshair and your browser is the battleground. Wherever you are. Whatever you’re doing. It’s k!ll or be k!lled. (don’t worry, it’s easy to opt out of a battle, if you really want to). Multipliers. Head shots. Hidden explosive devices. They’re all there for the taking. And if you miss your target, your rounds will still tear chunks out of the page behind them. Nice.

Learn to f!ght as part of a unit. Choose whether to f!ght on your own, or form a crack squad with up to three of your friends. Join squad mates in their battles, or call them in to help take down the Helghast in yours. Either way, working together means higher scores, more multipliers, the ability to heal other squad members and lots more Helghast casualties.

How does it work? – You can choose anyone you want to be in your squad, just give them your unique squad ID. Once a battle starts, the game will automatically contact your team mates (providing they have their browser open and the game enabled) and invite them to join the f!ght. If they accept, they will be transported straight to your location and instant gunplay…The more players that join, the more each player scores during that battle.

Battle your way to the top, for glory and goodies. Check your overall score and stats whenever you like at our webgame leaderboard at k!llzonewebgame.com with prizes for top players.

Key Facts

First ever, internet wide shoot’em up.

Browser plug-in nature of the game means you can be engaged by the Helghast anywhere and everywhere online. Literally nowhere is safe.

The plug-in is available for both Firefox (v3) and Internet Explorer (6 & 7).

Uses the actual a.ssets from the k!llzone 2 PS3™ game, including 3D models of the Helghast.

Shoot up the internet. Not only can you k!ll the enemy, the game makes the sites themselves destructible so you can tear them apart too.

f!ght with your friends or on your own. However you roll.

Let the battle commence.
