Quantum Of Solace (2008)

This Does have SPOILERS!
'Quantum of Solace' continues the high octane adventures of James Bond from 'Casino Royale'. Picking up literally hours after the previous film left off, after being betrayed by Vesper, the woman he loved, 007 f!ghts the urge to make his latest mission personal. Having captured Mr. White, and in pursuing his determination to uncover the truth, Bond and 'M' interrogate Mr. White who reveals the organization which blackmailed Vesper to steal Bond's casino winnings is far more complex and dangerous than anyone had imagined.

Forensic intelligence links an MI6 traitor to a bank account in Haiti where a case of mistaken identity introduces Bond to the beautiful but feisty Camille, a woman who has her own vendetta. Camille leads Bond straight to Dominic Greene, a ruthless businessman and major force within the mysterious criminal organization known only as 'Quantum'.

On a mission that leads him to Austria, Italy and South America, Bond discovers that Greene, conspiring to take total control of one of the world's most important natural resources, is forging a deal with the exiled General Medrano. Using his a.ssociates in the organization, and manipulating his powerful contacts within the CIA and the British government, Greene promises to overthrow the existing regime in Bolivia, giving General Medrano control of the country in exchange for a seemingly barren piece of land which is, however, a main source of the South American water supply. In a minefield of treachery, murder and deceit, Bond allies with old friends in a battle to uncover the truth. As he gets closer to finding the man responsible for the betrayal of Vesper, 007 must keep one step ahead of the CIA, the terrorists, and even 'M' herself, to unravel Greene's sinister plan and stop Quantum from getting its way.

i dont agree with either of the posters above me.

it was pretty good, but nothing special. there was almost too much action, the story line was sort of weak. it was alot of nonstop action though, if thats all you wanted out of it.

pretty good movie, if youre a bond fan you wont really be dissapointed, but dont go in expecting something awesome.

1) overall he storyline was weak and hard to understand. they explained sh*t so fast as if you knew what they were talking about already. when they talked about certain topics its was hard to follow if youre not a mi6 agent. i had to read the wikipedia to find out the people green worked for was quantum. LOL

2) the action scenes were cool but went to fast and the camera was too shakey, so it was hard to see what the hell was going on.

i going to buy this on dvd b/c daniel craig is just the best bond ever. he definitely carried this movie

action scenes were real good. i like how they make Daniel Craig kinda half 007 half Jason Bourne.

Storyline was very weak indeed but not nearly as bad as some past bond movies.

this was deff one of the best bond movies iv seen.

the scene where he grabs the handlebars and flips the guy off the motorcycle has to go in the scene hall of fame along with the joker pencil trick

Daniel Craig is deff the best bond, and he was hilarious throughout this movie

the main chick needed to get nekkid..

if she did it would get a 5,

but overall 4/5

movie was avarage at best....my bro said it the best, he went to see james bond but got jason bourne.

casino royale was brilliant because it had a great storyline, good action sequences, great pace and great characters....quantum had like 2 action sequences in the first 10 minutes. director marc forster said, he wanted to cut down the running time of the movie because he felt royale was to long. WTF??
quantum had no real plot, no real questions were really answerd about "the organisation" a week old frie is more menacing than dominic green, even lechiffre was more menacing in Royale. some scences didnt even make sense or were unnecessary. they copied 2 or 3 sequences & the editing from the bourne movies...like the f!ght in the hotel room in haiti, the rooftop chase, the motorbike scene. there were a few scence that were great (with mathis, felix, m, the interrogation of mr white)...but the great storyline that royale set was so butcherd by the director for a mindless action flick that you couldnt figure out a real plot in this movie because the movie was paced too fast......get back martin campbell for the 3rd flick, hes the ultimate bond director (goldeneye & casino royale)

This review was taken from another board but I agree 100%

As someone who grew up watching Bond, QoS not only didn't live up to my expectations, it didn't even live up to the expectations of what a Bond film is supposed to be. Honestly, if the man's name wasn't Bond and there was no opening title sequence, you never would've thought this was a Bond film.

First of all, there was way too much action to cover the absolutely paper-thin plot of the 100 minute length. I'm a fan of action as much as the next guy, but the Bond series are not supposed to be all about action. James Bond is not an action hero in the traditional sense. He doesn't attract violence nor does he employ it for kicks. He uses it as a means to an end if it has to come to that. James Bond is supposed to be a "s3xist, misogynist dinosaur," as M puts it in GoldenEye. He is supposed to be suave, sophisticated, and have a tongue-in-cheek approach rather than be some tough, grimy rogue who merely expels anything that stands in his way. That's not the Bond that I grew up with.

The screenplay is the real disappointment here, with the inconsequential plot serving as an excuse for Bond to move from one action set piece to another. The entire undertaking comes off as a blur of chase scenes and a showcase of stunts involving planes, boats and automobiles.

It also doesn't help that the frenetic cuts make the action scenes incomprehensible for the most part. Despite the exotic locations and impressive shots, the lack of any sophistication and wit make the whole thing seem rather trivial. This adds to the effect of the film being one long, mindless action film

Even the Bond girl was dull and uninspired. Besides her not even having a memorable name, she just comes across as a flat character throughout the whole film. Even in those paltry moments where you learn more about her past, Olga's acting just didn't do it for me. When you finally learn that she's actually a Bolivian agent, you could care less. It also didn't help that she and Bond had no chemistry whatsoever.

Then there's the villain. There was so much potential in Dominic Greene to be one of the great Bond villains, but instead he's totally wasted. Just as you start to admire his maniacal presence, he's already f!ghting Bond in the last f!ght scene. And what the hell was up with his "twisted scheme" in the first place? Let me get this straight. He wanted to control Bolivia's water supply. Really? That's it?! Am I missing something here?

I think all of these elements just adds to the fact that the movie lacked any substance and character development whatsoever. It felt more like a side-story to Casino Royale than a new installment to the franchise. For a movie as hyped as this one, I was extremely disappointed.

I couldn't have said it better. Daniel Craig as Bond has zero charisma and the plot was shallow. The villian was weak and his henchman looked gay, literally. No Q branch? No spy pimped Bond car?

However, the action scenes were good, if I wasn't expecting this to be a Bond film it wouldn't have been that bad, but by no means would this movie have been good enough to deserve a sequal if it were not a Bond film.

It was ok, I'd probably give it a 6.5 out of 10. I never felt threatened by the villain and his grand plan, you really couldn't see the action scenes. The bond girl really didn't add anything to the overall movie or plot, she was just there. The action scenes did somewhat feel forced because the majority of them was Bond following Mr.Green was and crashing on his parade. And it just felt like a action movie not a Bond movie.

saw it today.
LOVE the action. and also IMO, i think it was great.
granted the storyline could have been a HECK of alot better.
the villain was crap imo..this movie needed a BAD a.ss villain.
and the camille girl..she didnt do it for me either..
and she is alright..she is not hot in this movie..
although i google her and she is gorgeous..but in the movie..not so much and she didnt really have any chemistry with bond either..

She was just there...idk..
but like i said..if the plot had been strong, this movie would have been the best bond movie ive ever seen.
