you won't generate much, of any torque whatsoever if you stand still while punching something....

here's an analogy (somewhat)....
I a.ssume you watch some baseball... ever notice a pitcher always has some sort of leg kick/movement before they release the ball? that motion isn't for show-and-tell; it's to aid (increase) that pitch's velocity....


back on topic....

while punching whatever, try gettin into some sort of rhythm... move your legs; well, basically your body around... you know, like boxers do.... then before you strike, lunge towards into the object (taking your reach/wingspan into account) as you're throwing a punch... guaranteed that force will be much harder than you just standing there while throwing that punch....

its a game doesnt sound like an accurate test its probably a joke

I bought some baseball when i was younger that was like $50 was supposed to tell me the speed i was throwing it said i was hitting 92 at like 12 which is almost impossible

Haha, just kidding man. Yes, punching is all from the core/legs. Thats where your power comes from. Like others said, work with the heavy bag and dont think about swinging your arms, its about driving with your legs and punching THRU the bag. I have a couple of freddie roach videos i might be able to hook you up with if I can find them.

You probably lack a lot of functional strength, do a lot of push presses, squats, power cleans, etc. to build some explosiveness and total body strength....try olympic lifts too those do wonders for functional strength

k from what i've read here so far.
I'll just tell you what you need to know the best way that i can help you.
Punching...punching power is from technique any f!ghting art will tell you to swing your hips as you extend flatten your hand to align with your forearm.

And a good technique to creat explosive punches bro is..well i dunno what you lift but grab something your comfortable iwth say a 25-30lbs dumbell and practice you punching technique with those and move the weight as fast as you can but never fully extend the arm...do reps in sets that way then descend 5lbs in weight each time..rinse and repeat...go all the way down to the 5lbs and you will see your speed and power greatly improve....you doing bench is all chest thats got nothing to do with you punching howp this helps, cuz i know it does.

:wtf: i feel thats too much weight to be swinging around like a punch its gonna put too much strain on the joints in your arms even at a slow pace i think its over k!ll

....no its not i said what your comfortable with i can do that no probelm mind you i am used to it....It shud be a wieght u can move 5 times and no more than 5 times(this is key in to building mass and power move the wiehgt as fast as you can and it will look slow) in a solid punching motion form and technique is key...wheter it be 10lbs or 20lbs..then do what ever sets are comofortable then go down 5lbs and rinse and repeat..do it then gimme props when you see how fast and how strong your punching is.
the key is what your comfortable with but it has to be heavy to start. i would never tell him to do something that i havnbt done or do not do..as for your joints..like i said to not fully extend your arm your punches should never be "swinging" they shud start off as an ending postioon of a hammercurl then as hips swing arm extends while turning fist as extending then back to starting postion.
