(Question)Still feeling sore 3-4 days after work out?
 

 
Ok so I just started working out, and its going on the 3rd-4th day and i'm still pretty sore. Is it because my muscles are just getting used to the stress on them? Or is it something else? Also if i'm still sore 3 days after I don't work out if i'm sore do I? Thanks!imageimage

It's normal for a first time lifter to feel alot of pain at first. It's your body telling you you did a bit too much in the gym. Try to cut it down a bit next time and work your way up slowly. There's no point working out and then being out of action for a week. As for working through the pain, only you can answer that. If the pain is so intense that you know you can't workout safely and with proper form, then don't do it. Heal up and go at it again. But expect to feel some sort of discomfort after a good workout in which case, you would work through the pain.

your using your muscles like they havent been used before it will start too pass after a few weeks to where they ache the same day for maybe and hour or so
i find that legs if i do as much i possibly can will k!ll me for like 4 days!

Everyone experiences it. If I were you I would get some aspirins and take 1 like every 4 hours (old school method).

Just a buildup of lactic acid. Start to take glutamine with your post workout drinks. Its tasteless and odorless. It will take the soreness away.

its normal and its called DOMS - delayed onset muscle soreness. it is caused by microscopic muscle tearing.

It is kinda stupid. I know myself, I don't feel sore after each workout. Well, that's not true. I don't feel sore days after a workout all the time, however, I obviously will feel the pain during and immediately after a workout. So in that sense, I agree. However, I've been lifting so long that there are some areas on my body that stop feeling the pain of the micro tears after about 2 weeks of a routine. After about 4 weeks, I'll switch up my routine to change the way I lift and then I'll feel those tears for a bit.

There is a difference between pain and soreness..

I'd replace pain with soreness....but you dont always have to be sore to reap results. I get a good pump and feel like a million bucks. Get the blood flowing and up that progressive resistance.

Same thing happened with me...just got back into the gym and been there for a month...just got on my protein shakes as of today. But the 1st few days i was sore as fu*k and couldn't even lift my arms to wash up...it was painful but once you let those muscles rest and a few days later do the same workout uyou'll be fine, well at least i was

the pain is NOT telling u that u did too much in the gym....your muscles are in pain because when you are working them out you are actually tearing them apart....then while you are resting, they are rebuilding themselves which ends up making them stronger.....and if you are really sore in a certain body part, DONT work it out....it needs more time to recover...you will end up overtraining them which is counter productive to what you are trying to do
