No way man ... if anything itll fu*k up your knee (if u lifting heavy weights, consisting with bad form).... first you should stretch out ligaments .... do bodyweight squats.... and then light weight once u get the bodyweight squats down with ease.... heavyweights when your knee is fixed... which squats wont fix...

ur body is always trying to 'repair' but strengthening something thats already fu*ked is something you cannot do ... if its something like a ACL tear problems w/ the patella

if you got bad knees like me you def gotta be carefully when doing squats. start of with the machine doing light weights n work ya way up. you a knee brace to on ya bad knee. once you get ya strenght n confidence up feel free to do it with free weights. had someone they 2 stop you just incase till ya knee gets strong enuff. u gonna have 2 work all ya leg muscles good after knee surgery n sh*t. after u hurt ya knee u prob oo a easy on it so the fact of the injury n now the weak muscles supporting it is what your gonna experience till you get it strong again. once your cleared to start working out again take it slow n work ya way up. one ya leags start getting strong again ya knee wont hurt as much. if u hurt ya knee bad, even after getting it strong you'll prob always have some issues with it. thats how it goes

If you do squats with good/near perfect form then you cool, but also workout you hamstrings also to keep a balance of strength within you legs. A lot of people neglect their hamstrings and that's where a majority of knee problems come from.
