Saying HipHop is Dead is actually the opposite of trying to sell records. That is kind of a slap in the face to everyone who doesn't agree with that. Naming the album "Oprah", "American Idol", or "Dances and Hooks" would be a way to sell albums. Naming an album "zzzzzz" alienates the main market you need to sell records which is white people. If you go platinum or beyond, white people have to buy a lot of your records to make that happen.
"Hip Hop is Dead" wasn't the opposite of trying to sell records. It was a fu*kin gimmick and so is this new album. Now I know Nas will try "kick knowledge" and explain how the word "N.igger" is wrong on the album.

But he also knows that places like Best Buy, Walmart, and Target will not want to carry an album with such a title. Controversy sells people.

So It will make the news once it drops and he's hoping that Bill O'Riley, Al Sharpton, and Jesse Jackson as well as the rest of America jump on the band wagon and argue over Moral Integrity and Freedom of Speech.

The end.

P.S. - To all of you saying white people are scared of this believe me they're not. The fact is, most if not all white people have come to expect this word uttered by rappers and with that said most white people will make this an issue of how Rappers are promoting racial slurs. (Point fingers at you)
If what you all was saying is true then no white people would listen to rap cause every album I ever heard has the n.igger in it.

So how will it sell if no1 wants to carry the album?? If anything it will be bootlegged more than its sold if no store is selling it. Controversy isn't helping out his pockets either.

Does it have to make #1 to make a sh*t load of money. If anything this is great promotion for him I think we both can agree on that and most rappers these days depend on touring as steady income.

and what the fu*k do you mean controversy doesn't help his pockets? almost every rapper out there was promoting him when they were offended by that title "hiphop is dead" just imagine what this new album will do for him

but then again you could be right maybe Nas wants to make no money and wants everyone to bootleg his album.

When was teh last tour this n*gga Nas been on?? If he is creating hype he sure isn't using it. If n*gga wanted to go platinum he damn sure woulda released mroe than 2 music videos for his last album. n*gga didn't even tour like that for his last album. He did some shows but didn't take advantage of this hype u guys think he got from his last album.

gtfoh hip hop is dead had no buzz. he went back and bi*ched that hip hop was dead boom people start talking about him again

now with this crap if you think this isnt some attention whoring from nas then your blind. Wearing that shirt in front of a predominantely white audience at the grammy's instead of the naacp or bet awards means one thing attention whoring

he couldnt even articulate his point on cnn talking about black people losing the right to vote in 30 years on email chain bullsh*t
I was gonna say the same thing, he was on our local radio station trying to explain it...n*gga was going off on tangents, rambling about irrelevant topics, and couldnt seem to articulate his point....pretty much sounded like homie was super duper high or he actually has bought into this "goin back to africa" sh*t....@simp a.ss entertainers settin regular n*ggas back

That makes no sense, if he trying to only sell records why would he put a title on the cover that would be impossible to sell at 3 of the largest stores in North America. And really why would he want to fu*k with bill o riley, im not saying he is scared but just because he starts talking about you doesn't mean your gonna sell more, he started talking about luda and that cost him his pepsi contract. The fact is until u hear the content of the album your cant say that the name isn't justifiable for they album. Trying to sell is soulja boy making a dance for a song and uploading it on youtube, selling is a not so talent person winning American Idol, based on the popularity of the person, the look and maybe the sound. trying to sell is giving away a car, ipod, boat, juicy fruit contest when your cd drops. If its about selling L.A. reid and def jam would have released this already if he it would sell.

That's all it is. Too bad for him our culture isn't shocked by much anymore...hopefully it'll tank and he'll get a reality check.
Therin lies the problem. Change & progress doesn't happen without provocatuers. Even if it was only to sell records, it should provoke convo about the word & it's place in our culture. Too many people don't think for themselves today. Either everything is spoon fed to them or political correctness has k!lled the ability to speak freely.
