ESPN's Billy Tucker on Gators adding Mike Gillislee

Mike Gillislee, an ESPN 150 Watch List talent, has picked the Gators, according to affiliate Web site GatorCountry.com.

ESPN's Billy Tucker elaborated on the news, "This is a kid we really liked off junior film evaluations in early spring and were shocked at the time he had limited offers. The Gators got on the in-state ESPN 150 Watch List prospect early, like they did with wide receiver Frankie Hammond Jr. (Hallandale, Fla.) last year, which helped land this national sleeper. Gillislee is a very dynamic back who we actually compared to Cierre Wood (Oxnard, Calif./Santa Clara) in our evaluation - he should flourish in Florida's spread system."
"He is very dangerous in space with his great hips, lateral foot-quickness and acceleration. Not a real downhill, in-line threat at this time but can bounce it outside and turn the corner with good perimeter speed and quickness. Has a good second gear and the top-end speed to separate from faster defensive backs at next level."

"Sounds like the Gators recruited him more as an athlete with his soft hands and polished receiving skills, but we wouldn't be surprised if this kid keeps getting stronger, packs on 15-20 pounds of bulk and becomes a productive one-cut and go, slashing tailback in the Swamp as well. Gillislee brings great scheme versatility to OC Dan Mullen's potent spread offense and is another fine weapon for the Gators."

ESPN's Tom Luginbill on Gators adding Nu'Keese Richardson

ESPN's Tom Luginbill talked about the commitment, "Nu'Keese Richardson is like a wide receiver version of RB Chris Rainey in that he is small in stature, but big on playmaking ability and while he isn't a very big target in the passing game he is a potential game-breaker as a return specialist. He can run, he's quick as a cat and he can make people miss which is what the spread offense is all about."

"The Gators continue to add speed and quickness to their receiving corps which will rely on youth over the next couple of years. He could be a slot, a scatback and even split out wide and is a nightmare on screens and such which gives the Gators a multitude of ways of getting the ball into hands. This is a big coup for the Gators, but a big loss for South Carolina who is desperately trying to develop a strong wide receiving group under Steve Spurrier."

Don't believe that sh*t homie. He's expected to be 180-185 by the time the season rolls around, I think that'll be plenty big enough for a guy as little as him.

Anybody else happen to catch Jeff Demps in the 100 at the Prefontaine Classic today? He came in third with a 10.19 and this is after some false starts from the field. He was leading at least 75% of the race. Goddamn this n*gga is fast, he gon' be competing for Gold Medals around 2012. We are very lucky to have this kid, people will still continue to think he's just a track star who plays football but it's really the other way around and to think he's this amazing of a runner goddamn he's NEVER going to be caught from behind.

@ Anybody believing it was Coach Meyer who did this sh*t. We were recruiting him very hard and I know for a fact that every time you have a score jump like his did, some sh*t from like 14 to a 26 or some sh*t it's going to get flagged regardless. This kid is just a fu*king idiot for saying this sh*t. I hope his stupid a.ss never makes it into school. Maybe he shouldn't have cheated on his ACT and he wouldn't have this problem.

I just think it's funny how he somehow came to the conclusion that it was Meyer and UF who turned him in when it never happened like that, probably some sh*t his LSU coaches are telling him or something. The kid was going to have to deal with this eventually because the NCAA will always flag a kid who's score rises by more than fu*king 10 points from one ACT to the next one. The kid is an idiot, it's that simple and it's his own fault, he shouldn't be going around blaming anybody but himself. It's obvious the kid is a fu*king moron, who only gets a 14 on the ACT? And if you believe he really did "earn" a 26 on the next try you're kind of a retard.

Damn I been in Chicago so I ain't had much Internet access the last couple weeks. But I come bearing good news (there's been a bit of bad news lately revolving our DT's but I don't feel like talking about that sh*t and Dee Finley apparently ain't making it in as it was thought he would but he will be here next January, no big deal it's probably for the better because he would have RS'd most likely). Anyways the top OL on our board Nick Alajajian committed today and he's a fu*king MONSTER. I'll have the story up as soon as it's available.

Goddamn y'all, as much as Demps loves and is great at football the kid just ran a fu*king 10.01 100M only being beaten by a guy who broke the American record in the same race and he beat Dix of FSU who ran a 10.02 (he did run a 9.96 in the earlier heat). I still think he plays football but he's so good at running he just may wind up in Beijing and I'm almost certain if he keeps this up he's running for world records in 2012. Wow he's fast as fu*k for such a youngster.

I just woke up and checked that. This is amazing though, the kid is supposedly already better than Boynton and Knight. And I'm not just talking about my a.ss either, lots and lots of scouts have said as much. Hopefully we get Boynton this year, he's an amazing scorer.

The Florida Gators are on the board in the Class of 2011. Austin Rivers, a 6-foot-3 combo guard and one of the best backcourt prospects in his class, committed to the Florida Gators last night.

“I think there are several reasons,” David Bailey, Winter Park’s coach told Scout.com. “The style Florida plays is very appealing and they like to push the ball. They’ve got national championships and they’ve done a good job getting guys ready to play at the next level. He’s extremely competitive and he tries to win every drill.”

“I’ve been talking to them for a about a year now since the beginning of my freshman year,” Rivers told Scout.com. “The staff and everybody … I just started getting a good relationship with everyone over there and that’s what it comes down to. That’s when I decided to make my commitment.”

Rivers averaged 13.9 points a game at Olympia (Fla.) Winter Park. Rivers shot 38 percent behind the arc and had a season-high 30 points in one game last year. On the AAU circuit, he’s been tremendous.

Rivers attended the Gators Elite Camp last month and from that point on, became a priority. “They want me to help them choose and figure out who to play with,” Rivers said. “It’s a great college, campus and facility. I just think I’ll have a really good time playing there. He likes to come off pick and rolls and I’m good at creating for others.”

Rivers is no ordinary freshman. He’s the brother of Indiana guard Jeremiah Rivers and the son of Boston Celtics head coach Glen Rivers. As a freshman, he rates as one of the most competitive guards these eyes have ever seen at that age. He’s a lot like his future college coach. “He has a lot of passion for the game. He gets into it and so do I. I have losing and so does he. We have the same image about basketball and do anything to win.”

What lessons does dad pass along to his son? “I think confidence really. (he says) you have to go in there every night, even if you are off. He says there’s always something you can do besides scoring the ball and that’s helped me a lot.”

By the time Rivers hits Gainesville he’s have not only a masters in winning, but a doctorate as well. He had a front row seat for the Celtics championship run and was able to share in the celebration and behind the scenes stories of Kevin Garnett and Co.’s fabled run to the world title.

“You see (the players) coming in all cool with star status but you see these guys after the game going crazy … I just want to win one of those one day so bad. You realize that if you keep working and pushing yourself its possible to win one of those.”

Rivers felt like for Garnett, the championship run was the sweetest. “Garnett, the guy in practice is crazy in a good way. Basically, he’s a coach/player. When they had to fine players for being late it was Kevin Garnett’s decision. It meant the most to him and he wanted the championship so bad.”

And clearly the Gators wanted Austin Rivers in a bad way too!

Yup heard from a GC insider last night that he's actually 3 weeks ahead of schedule. Also said he was up to 202 lbs in the same chat. ESPN and all these services keep calling him tiny because they haven't gotten them memo that he's no longer 178 lbs .
