Only Getting Loud Fast Clicking When Trying To Start Car?

I tried to start my car today and it wouldn't even turn over all I got was just some fast, loud clicking noises. Anyone know is this the battery, alternator? I was thinkin battery since the car starts and runs fine once it gets a jump, but just wanna see what some of ya'll think.

Before you go getting a new battery, check the cables for wear or corrosion on the connections to the battery.Try and wiggle the cables to see if there is any play, the connection should be tight... a loose or corroded connection will cause no starts.

If you try all those things and dont see a problem, get a jump and go to a battery place, they should test it and show you the testing results.

it could be both first go and get your baterry checked out at autozone and have them recharge it for you its free if it continues to do the fast clicking noise it could be your alternator dyin out on you itll eventually give out sooner or later if it does it doesnt cost much to replace it yourself maybe $150 somewhere around there
