Raps fans look away, Oshae Brissett is on FIRE

Raptors cut Canadian Oshae Brissett in preseason even with their frontcourt being completely depleted. Rather than using this year to see if he can stand out at the 4, they decided to go with the likes of Arron Baynes and Alex Len.

Since then, Baynes has proven to be one of the worst big men in the league. The Raptors have a +10 points differential when he's off the court, and Arron holds a -85 +/- on the season. As a comparison, recent pickup Khem Birch maintains a +44 plus minus so far in the 12 games he's played since being bought out by the Magic, and Chris Boucher, who has played with the team all year has a +144 average. Alex Len was waived in January.

With the injury to Myles Turner, the Pacers had to dig deep in finding a suitable player to fill minutes. Former Raps a*sistant coach Nate Bjorkgren knew that Oshae was deserving of a proper look and boy has it paid off.

Standing at a considerably small for a PF (able to switch easily as a SF) at 6'7, he has recorded 4 double doubles now in 7 starts for the Pacers. With most recently recording 16 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks against the Thunder on Saturday.

While the blowout win against the Thunder can be misleading, he recorded a statline of 14 points, 9 rebounds, 2 steals and 3 blocks against the Nets. 18 points, 10 rebounds, 2 steals and 5 blocks against the Trail Blazers.

Brissett has been one of the more productive and efficient forwards in the NBA. He is averaging 15.4 points, 9.9 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game while shooting 47.9% from the floor and 45% from three point range. Brissett has scored in double figures in each game he has started, grabbing at least eight rebounds in six of seven starts. He has also made at least two three pointers in each start.

Raptors gave away a Toronto born player they needed. While I understand he's small, and fellow Canadian Chris Boucher is already fills the small front court position,it's hard to believe that they couldn't have continued to develop him. Even with him as a SF. A front court consisting of Canadians Khem Birch/Chris Boucher/Oshae Brissett would have been great to see.

Well you said it they already have chris Boucher who they resigned last summer. Brischet wasn’t going to fix the front court issues being 6’7 200lbs.

ayyy u love to see a story like this.. OP swept up in some team narrative,fu*k all that, thats not the story here... good for Oshae Brissett

hes a player who always showed flashes of being an NBA player, n his size n skillset are right in line with league trends

Was always a believer in this kid being underranked

he's just genuinely one of those kids that was underrated because he was canadian n people didnt get a better look at him, if they did, he'd have been rated higher.

ewait a second why do yall fu*kers keep saying he's 6'7... you're wrong..

look at his combine measurments..

he's 6'7" without shoes....

idk why indiana lists him at 6'7"

he had the best standing vert of any forward at the combine n he is the type of jumper who gets up quickly

Looking at all the undrafted Canadian players in the league rn.

Oshae Brissett (IND)
Khem Birch (TOR)
Lu Dort (OKC)
Chris Boucher(TOR)
Karim Mane(ORL)
Mychal Mulder (GSW)

Oshae, Boucher and Birch gonna be quality bench players while Dort gonna be a solid starter. I see Mane (former 5 star recruit) doing well as long as he gets developed properly.
