Im glad someone said this, because this overbearing emphasis on swag is k!lling hiphop right now. The new metros3xual f*g obsessed hipster rappers out nowadays act like women. Dont get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with having style/swag because rap has always been about that, but the problem is that swag is overshadows skills right now. There is no balance in rap between style, skills, and swagger anymore.
Back in the day, nyggas had style/swag AND skill. Today, we just got homo looking nyggas who cant rap who made entire careers based on "swag" and nothing else. Rap is borderline R&B at this point. "Swag this, swag that", and half these cats who always rap about swag dont even HAVE swag. Bodysuit rocking, airless jean, metros3xual, "i belong in r&b" looking clowns talking about swag. Get outta here.
I think the biggest problem is rap/hip hop is no one wants to be original. Everyone bites off of everyone. P. Diddy does a mohawk for a running marathon then everyone starts rocking this frohawk crap. Camron rocks pink then all of sudden everyone starts doing it, cam stops and well then everyone stops too. T-Pain has success with auto-tune then wow what a surprise that blows up. Camron says no homo , pause, u mad and then eveyone follows that too. Whoever started rocking skinny pants now has a bunch of people rocking them and got dudes shopping at Forever 21 for the lightest jeans possible.
With that being thougj when a person does come original people hate on it hard ie all of Boxden lol
