Zach Wilson will be the best QB in this draft in 3 years.

QB friendly system, oline has been upgraded, as well as the skill positions.

Adam Gase is gone, and this team has a lot more talent than people realize.

I expect a wild card spot this year.

What about how small and frail Zach is?

Hes already had 2 season ending injuries/surgeries in college.

Thats why i voted Zach.

And all those new things sound good - but they will probably take 2 or 3 years to click - just the same way it took time in SF with the new staff.

Can Zach survive the NFL while hes still a baby and the team is building?

Everybody has a plan until they get hit.

His championship game performance neither hurt nor would it have helped his stock...from about the half way point of the season once Zach started balling it was a 3 way race for the 2nd best qb between those two and Trey Lance. He only fell to 10 cuz the 49ers preferred Trey and no one else wanted a qb between 4 and 9
If OSU wins the national title on a 5td performance by Fields, he's going before a kid who played like 19 games NDSU. And Arguably going before Zach. His performance against Bama definitely hurt his stock. Going 17 for 33 throwing under 200yrds with 1 td on national television is gonna hurt. Especially when the knock against you is your inability to read defenses and go through your progression, a performance like that hurts.

Look up the number of high school football players compared to how many collage players end up bieng invited to the draft

A 5th rounder who dont pan out is a bust idgaf.
Thats cause you're an idiot

But a 5th rounder isn't a bust because they're not usually expected to pan out. Thats why they're 5th rounders.

Nothing like being a 1st round prospect

All of this is true, can't even argue it.

I'm a*suming he will get bigger/stronger just being in the NFL conditioning program. He does look like a kid now but most of these QB's get stronger, just look at how different guys like R. Wilson have bulked up over the years.

Zach Wilson is 100 percent all about football. I feared guys like Sanchez were more about being a star before being a great QB, and if you listen to this kids interviews he is all about being the best QB he can be...along with bonding with his teammates and uniting the locker room.

Darnold had Gase, never had a chance under that clown. Look at what players like Tannehill and Robby Anderson were able to do once they got away from him.

This team has talent, but more importantly they have coaching. As a 49ers fan I'm sure you can relate how much things changed from the Tomsula/Chip Kelly years to a great coach you have now in Shanahan. Simply, when you have a trash head coach you can't win in the NFL, I believe the Jets have fixed that now with Saleh.

Even in the NBA, the Knicks look a lot better now with Thibs. Not a Knicks fan but if you watch them at all you can see how having the #1 defense has made a huge difference for them...they don't have star players outside of Randle but they play as a team.

I expect the same type of thing this year with the Jets. I like what they are doing

I like your optimism - and if it happens big congrats.

However...

It took the 49ers 3 years before things really clicked with Shanahan Saleh and staff - and they got big boosts every year from the GM side on adding good players.

I didnt actually like Saleh his 1st 2 years with us.

But now hes a Head Coach and not the de coord - you guys got Ulbrich - and 49ers fans will always love Ulbrich from his playing days so I hope he does well.

You guys got Mike LeFleur as OC - and hes fairly inexperienced as a play caller. He was our passing scheme specialist - how that all translates who knows. He comes from working with Shanahan - and his older brother is a pretty decent coach - so the potential is def there.

But will it all come together in New York? And how soon will it take?

Starting any rookie QB is risky as sh*t and after watching Alex Smith be terrible his 1st 6 seasons - and several QB's get fed to the wolves before him - its something id never want to do personally. I think ideally rookie QB's wait at least 1 year but 2-3 is more ideal. (Rodgers, Mahomes)

And if a rookie QB could be starting fairly soon - you'd want a proven stable staff with a stout offensive line and some reliable weapons.

Most new coaches and staffs take 3 years to get the foundation set.

You are absolutely right men get bigger and stronger after a few years in the league and in general thru our mid 20's - depending.

But again - as a rookie - even if everything goes perfect hes still going to get hit multiple times per game - and hes still small and weak for the NFL currently.

And once you have injuries or surgeries to rehab/heal - you are losing qb practice time and also strength training.

Again I like your optimism - there will be growing pains on multiple sides - most fans/people want guys cut or traded or fired too soon - instead of understanding that things take time no matter who the new guy is thats coming in.

Normally id say F the Jets and F New York - but yall staff has a few former 49ers that i like - so ill be observing.

Im still gonna laugh when sh*t goes badly tho

What about Dwayne Haskins
OSU has had 2. TWO qbs taken in the first round since the early 1980s.

Haskins was one and Art Schlichter in the early 1980s

So this OSU produces busts talk is a lazy as fu*k argument. OSU doesn't usually have talented QBs worthy of a 1st.

Fields is

Wilson is in a system that fits his skillset and that he is experienced in. Jets also gave him more than Darnold ever have.

If he cant show some promise then he is truly a bust.
Didnít mean to slap.

I donít think any qb can be successful inside a dysfunctional franchise. The Jets are dysfunctional. And when Zack played Pac 12 schools, he only threw 1 touch down in 7 games or something. He couldnít perform against big talent.

Those two things plus him looking goofy in the first round group photo make him feel like a bust to me.
